Reporting on a China-only smartphone is a bit like those articles about the life of millionaires and billionaires. Good for them, but why should I care? Impressive tech, sure. Sony must be proud, Leica must be proud, Xiaomi's checkbook must be proud.

It's good that larger sensors with faster readout are being explored. Also, sharper anti-reflection glass is being used. Hopefully, Sony brings the 2-Layer Transistor Pixel to sensors larger than 1/1.33" soon. With bright lenses we should see substantial improvements to image quality. And smaller sensors should be able to readout much faster, compensating smaller pixels with faster readout.

Hmm.. nice. Love the hardware... Although with the bloatware they pack, no from my side.
And I sincerely hope it overheats less, for the sake of prospective owners. The chipsets are on fire.. in the market, as well as in temperature.

It looks solid, the design is nice, too bad it's only available in China so I would have to pay more for it online. Also like others have said, why is there no shutter button with a phone looking like that, especially the way they hold it.

[deleted post]The only thing that the Pro-I has at this point, is the headphone jack and SD card slot. The body design with the frame is better imo. I'd like to see more of the results for this before making any more comments.

EM, 04 Jul 2022If it's not available outside China, what is the point... moreSeriously GSM Arena, why the heck would you even bother to waste any time mentioning a phone that is not going to be sold internationally. No one wants a Chinese phone that may or not support networks used by other carriers internationally.

EM, 04 Jul 2022If it's not available outside China, what is the point... moreBecause China is a large market all on its own, and building domestically capable smartphones moves them away from foreign companies somewhat, their growth this past few years is nothing short of huge, given the Huawei downfall, its also bragging rights to the other companies that they can build far superior hardware, again much like Huawei did, I cant speak for software as I have never used one of these phones, the rest of the world is stuck with the oh so boring iPhone and Samsung, for which I actually use both but both are severely lacking in innovation really

This phone looks like a piece of concrete in the shape of a phone, it could serve as a hammer or a weapon to hit someone in the head.

My current phone has a 6.3" screen and weighs 168 grams, and I already consider that uncomfortable to hold in my hand for extended periods of time; phones with even larger screens weighing 200+ grams like the flagships of Samsung, iPhone, Xiaomi, etc. are impractically large/heavy without any added benefit in terms of the user experience imo. My next phone will not exceed my current phone's weight/size; I'd preferably even get a phone that's a little smaller if I can still get one with flagship specs, so I'm looking to see how the Samsung S23 will be like.
