Anonymous, 04 Jul 2022Note that this sensor is larger than 1" type sensors. ... moreSo I want to add that this sensor is nearly 12% larger than the active sensor area of 3:2 1" type sensors.

Compared to mi11ultra from last year:
Smaller battery
Slower wireless charging
Same 67w wired charging (WHERE IS 200W CHARGING FROM LAST YEARS DEMO ?)
Same ultrawide/telephoto sensors as last year
Second back display gone!!???!!
Still no under screen selfie camera
No ceramic back model..
China only ,so most of the world forced to import it via shady websites if they want to buy it.
Xiaomi stock going to plummet.

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2022Same people that complain it is China exclusive are same pe... moreTrue. I think when people say that they really mean, we want it available outside China for the same price as it costs in China but that is simply impossible. In Europe prices are always roughly 50% more expensive than Chinese prices basically for all Chinese branded phones.

Design wise, I think it looks beautiful. But if the 8 gen plus has the same thermal behaviour like the predecessors, its a no go. Especially for an expensive phone that you should keep for at least a few years. Thats a thing that is not apparent, high end processors phones used extensively will eventually damage the battery and screen so damn fast.

Another brand that chooses to pay more for exmor instead of using isocell, because it is better.

Cameras like the Honor Magic 4 Ultimate main camera or the Xiaomi 12S Ultra main camera capture so much light per time that it is in my opinion not a great decision to offer only 12 megapixel Bayer raw files, more megapixels would be surely no real problem. The main camera of these two phones is equivalent to a Canon Aps-c camera + 14mm f/3.0 OIS lens.

EM, 04 Jul 2022If it's not available outside China, what is the point... moreBecause it is available for 1.4 billion people??? And if they release it for India it is almost available for half the World.

We have seem plenty of android smartphones with top notch hardware in the past years.
For example Honor Magic 4 Ultimate camera is really great.
At the end of the day though what really matters is the software and of course the pricing, and in both of these Xiaomi is behind.
And not only that but Xiaomi even took a step back in the battery department, which is lower that the Mi11 ultra.
This is why Pixel phones were so popular in 2021, despite their bugs.
Stock android and great software support, great cameras(for the price)and competitive pricing.

yalim, 04 Jul 2022an interesting experimental phone.good camera but huge in s... more1) price outside China would too much more, would limits sales and this would not be worth from financial point of view
2) could be related to patents, of any is infringed, they do not need to pay if phone is keep China only. What would not happen for oversea model.

Nick Tegrataker, 04 Jul 2022Xiaomi mentions the new sensor supports Octa PD, which is e... moreYes. Basically with snapdragon, RX100 M7 could probably do burst 20MP@120fps with 60 AE/AF. Obviously would be bizarre to give this to RX or Pro-i, but interesting that they allow their 📷 do 20, 30 fps raw, but not the phone with has more power for the task.
Anyway, more brands should focus on action photography. Not just zero motion subject.

an interesting experimental phone.good camera but huge in size.probably why it is limited to china. xiaomi screwed with mi11ultra's pricing. so,they learned they are no longer a competitive brand outside of china.

I've been wondering, when one of the manufactures, like Sony, Samsung,Xiaomi and others will pick up the gloves, and program in their sensors the ability of Double or multi exposures or stacking photos, in order of having a unique point of view, or... time will tell whether the smartphones cameras will get closer to the mirrorless pro cameras.
dare to challenge

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2022R7 has 50Mp quadbayer as well. Sounds like this could be a... moreXiaomi mentions the new sensor supports Octa PD, which is essentially dual pixel AF on a Quad Bayer sensor, so that part is the same as R7's sensor. R7's burst shooting rate is (most likely) slower than this.
"that is what the Bionz X can allow 100 M7 to do, not even the limit of the cmos"
Mind you, SD 8G1 can process 3.2GP per second, meaning *technically* it would be able to do what Bionz X processor is doing inside RX100 Mk7 without even breaking a sweat.
