Since the users have the option to choose between the two, they will realize the benefits and a lot of them may actually switch. People care way less about instagram look now than a couple of years ago.

BTW gsmarena, more authentic mode samples please. Like that snail pic for foliage, joy station pic for checking sharpening artifacts and that hotel building pic too if possible.

Super impressed by the 12S Ultra. The main camera lens clearly have better sharpness and highlight retention. The wide and telephoto cameras have less noise and highlight retention but sharpness seems the same

I would say that if there is an underrated flagship, that is the Mi 11 Ultra/ 12s Ultra. Photos look organic. They're simply astonishing and spectacularly reproduced. I really appreciate how much effort they put in their work to develop this kind of post-processing. No offense meant to the 13 pro and 22 ultra flagships, but these Xiaomi are absolutely the ones which truly deserve the "HYPE".

Which Miui version are you using for the 11Ultra? There are widespread reports that the image quality has been nerfed significantly on the miui13 releases for the 11ultra.

I LOVE what they did with HDR and colours. Trees and grass look green again instead of unnaturally white and bright. That is so great! I hope others go back to that too.

The quality overall, I don't know, I kinda expected that huge sensor to make more of a difference.

What I don't like though is the focus. It's so unpleasant. It's not just 12S, Pixels and seems many other phones suffer from this too. Look at that "Manfrotto" text on the tripod photo, it looks awful! One of the best focus fall I've seen so far is on Lumia 950.

Love the Leica Authentic look, the contrast is on point. Remind me of Huawei P9 / Mate 9 image processing.

Please compare with Nokia 808 preview.. Nokia was also able to capture natural potrait

Of course, it's the best smartphone camera I've ever seen, but it shows the quality beyond my imagination👍

the colors look so much nicer than the previous washed out look

Reminder that "Swallow Depth of Field" is NOT Bokeh.
Bokeh are those "bubbles" of light.

Center will always be better. but the sides should be similar between each other. That is what happens when Leica just certifies lenses instead of making them.

Looks like Google Pixel vs Samsung Galaxy comparison. 12S Ultra seems has superior HDR so photos get a bit of Google Pixel look. 11 Ultra photos are brighter, dynamic range isn't that great so photos look like taken by the latest Galaxy S22 Ultra. Apart from zoom photos, much cheaper Google Pixel 5 can deliver pretty much the same photo quality and still dirt cheap and old Sony RX100 and easily beat all this phones.

Just an observation here... There appears to be some serious softness on the right hand side (main camera) of your Mi 11 Ultra unit... I have the 11 Ultra too -- And there is absolutely no softness whatsoever throughout the frame of the image... Corners are pin sharp but slightly noisey... Right hand side is similar to the centre in terms of sharpness & detail on my unit...

Except for some minor details here or there (ex: yellow patterns on the pillow on the sofa). Leica finally brings a lot of order to Xiaomi pixel chaos. Especially in the corners. Nice work! I will not buy it though, because it's not official in Europe. So yeah.
