Others will follow this trend very soon. Really horrible. Only trend that I like is true wireless earbuds as they are cool and easy to use when you are walking. But for sound quality in ear monitors are miles better.

It’s another way to control people, Governments and networks can prevent an individual having a mobile phone, where having a physical SIM card you can change providers if you wish.

There aren't that many telco that has eSIM support, so this is something to be taken with caution.

sq2013, 18 Jul 2022I absolutely hate Apple. I work for a cellphone carrier and... moreI hate those people and I have not even met them!
I just see them talking crap and leaving stupid reviews.
My brother and uncle activated theirs easily (from a carrier THAT HAVE NO SUPPORT) believe it or not!
But the sad truth is, eSIM plans, at least here, are soooo much cheaper and make people really want to invest in a phone to be able to buy them. I still do not see how eSIMs are better than a normal one.
You can switch your normal one to any phone anytime, get a new one if lost with ease, easy to activate and change plans. Not to mention, they are far more secure.

potato4k, 19 Jul 2022It is more secure if you have proper security on your phone... moreYou know you can lock your SIM with a PIN aswell that if unlocked mistakenly unlocked multiple times will require another unlock PUKs. Just a reminder.
Considering phones gets replaced every couple of years, just swap your SIM to your new phone, no more hassle of calling your provider to reactivate your ESIM on your new phone that could take hours or days depending on how much of a douche the provider is.

potato4k, 19 Jul 2022It is more secure if you have proper security on your phone... moreGiven how bad security service providers usually have, physical SIM is more secure. With eSIM one can steal it through web. What's the chance of someone physically stealing your SIM compared to virtual one?

SShock, 18 Jul 2022eSIM is the worst thing. Ever. It’s insecure and it’s alway... moreIt is more secure if you have proper security on your phone.
With a physical SIM, a thief can simply eject the SIM, put it in another phone, and get access to all your OTPs. With eSIM, it's much harder unless they can break the phone's defenses/guess your PIN.

So I guess they'll add another useless camera on back now, after companies eventually remove the sim slot. Just that Apple will add a better camera that's the only difference. Android will continue with 2 mp scams

sq2013, 18 Jul 2022I absolutely hate Apple. I work for a cellphone carrier and... moreThat's on your company, the carrier. Most of the times, it's the carriers that make things more difficult than it supposed to be. Regular eSIM activation should've been easy and seamless. Some carriers can even switch back and forth between eSIM and physical SIM as needed very quickly for their customers. I think it's helpful if you provide what carrier are you working at so people can avoid it.

Lol, leave it to Apple to introduce bad ideas to the market.
I will never buy an only esim capable smartphone (no matter the brand). It will make my future smartphone purchases much easier in this case.

sq2013, 18 Jul 2022I absolutely hate Apple. I work for a cellphone carrier and... moreLol.. your carrier still manually does this task? This is automatic in nearly every telco I go! Most just scan QR code and done.
No wonder the customer call in irritated having to do this with a real person, instead of automatically. On top of that.. "how to call? Unless you have another phone or another line".. That's why the customer is extra irritated.
