The lesser competition the lesse the prices! Oh wait! Wouldnt it inflate prices instead with less competition?
India following US by banning companies instead of fairly competing in the market! Good job!

1) It dont make any sense, stupid decision.
2) indian local players such as Lava & Micromax dont make good phones and, i bet they still wont be any difference in the market share for indian player or for chinese companies.
3) this would instead boost more sales for the mid ranger, flagship killer phones xD
its like, u want indian companies to earn more money but you are helping indirectly to let chinese company earn more as consumers will end up buying phones which cost above 12000 rs.

Market interventions are usually (always?) bad.
Low income Indians are going to pay the price. Either in cost or quality. Besides, what prevents them from importing a phone or going black market, if it's better?
But usually with government there's a person somewhere proud of the new legislation with their name on it.
If Chinese products are on the rise (in price) then just wait until it makes sense to self produce. In the meanwhile, enjoy the lower cost and better quality.

If they don't make up some plausible reasons for such a move, it could invite a lot of litigation.

How dare our govt planning to ban chinese phones without approval from western overlords. If US and Europe ban Huwaei, ZTE from 5G infra then rest of the uncivilized world can ban them. That becomes holy ban. Banning anything else is "fascist nationalistic" policy which is doomed to fail. muh

As a Dutch, I'm proud to hear this...
European Union is being colonised by China.
The data of other countries is very important for China, in order to use that for their own benefit.
China is trying to control other countries with data and trade. Hopefully India will become the better version of India and also the number 1 business/trading partner of the West
