09 August 2022
Nokia sued over the licensing of two standard-essential patents. Sales in other countries seem unaffected for now.

Nokia is within its rights to ask for more in the new contract, just like how Oppo is free to reject it. What isn't fine is Oppo using Nokia's patents without paying for them.

I don't see how people believe Oppo is in the right here.

I don't hate Oppo and I do like Nokia more, but that has nothing to do with the case here. Also, Nokia phones having headphone jacks don't even matter to this. I never once mentioned headphone jacks until you brought it up.

All you've done is thrown in a red herring to avoid my question. I guess it's clear that you can't answer it and even you know this yourself.

BBK (Oddo and Oneplus) is on the wrong side.

Any company that implements patent from 3rd party MUST pay lisence or fee to the owner of patents in that region.

This is simple logic and no drama.

          1. Low powered bluetooth, for those who remember bluetooth use to eat charge a lot, leave bluetooth on overnight then at morning your phone will have 0 charge, Nokia developed Tech called Wibree to replace Bluetooth, which later was called Bluetooth 4.0, today you use your Earphone wireless? Thank them

          2. They Developed NFC together with Sony and Philips, Today you use Apple pay, Samsung pay or Google pay? Thank them

          3. Nokia and Ericson contributed more than Anyone in Creating GSM from 2G era to 3G, 4G up to 5G. The first phone call was made by Finland prime Minister.

          4. They have Great contribution in video codecs from 3GP era to x264 and x265, today everywhere you go from youtube up to torrent x264 is there.

5.Nokia Audio Technology was always ahead of others from symbian to Lumia days, lot of companies from LG to Oppo, Oneplus, Asus etc use Ozo. Flagship from Oppo/Oneplus like find X3 and oneplus 9 pro had this Audio tech.

          6. They always pioneer USB to have video output from earlier days we had separate HDMI cable later on Nokia Developed MHL where you could get Video signal from Usb port now Succeeded by usb 3.1

          7. Nokia pureview 2012 released pureview which started most things you see in camera today etc.

There are lot of things Nokia made for phones, and BBK phones today try really hard to Imitate Nokia From OZO audio, Zeiss lens, focus in Ois etc, they even used to release their phone using Nokia previous phones.

Volvo used this more as a PR movement if anything. The original owner might've believed this, but they were just at the right time and right place. If you really look back at it, some other car manufacturer would've come up with it since car safety was becoming more of an issue at the time. This was a PR stunt and it clearly worked since people still remember it to this day.

Prior to Volvo, America and Europe used 2-point seatbelts (when they had them at all), but the continents were split on whether to use only a shoulder harness or only a lap harness.

It didn't exactly take a genius to invent the 3-point harness. Volvo got to it first.

They did a cost-benefit analysis and determined that not patenting it brings more benefit than the money from the patent which is why they didn't patent it.

Nice job trying to bring in an irrelevant topic onto here. Also, "ancient technology" that's better than wireless? That's a whole different discussion, but old doesn't necessarily mean bad.

Anyways, stop ducking and answer the question:

Now explain why Oppo is in the right again but using actual logic.

Anonymous, 09 Aug 2022So, nokia spend billions per year on R&D for telecon. ... moreLet's take Volvo into consideration, the founder of the seat belt...

Nokia on the other hand, creates 4000 patents essential to 5g communications. Have you even seen some of their silly patents? I recall some including slightly moving the antenna or using slightly different settings for standard equipment... It's like owning an old satellite dish but if you move it 5cm in this direction with this frequency enabled this now belongs to Nokia.

I'm sure there have been countless occasion were patent infringement was not done intentionally but because other engineers and or scientist find the same results without looking into existing patents. Probably not what Oppo and Oneplus, probably did just use existing Nokia patents, but patents in general tend to slow progress by causing stupid legal issues.

If I engineered the cure to cancer using some sort of nanomachines I'm not stupid enough to create 4000 patents preventing other manufacturers creating similar technology because I want money and credit for privately curing cancer.

Yes for the individual or company who created these patents they may lose out on billions, but it would allow for further progression of the human species. If you really care about the money how about you actually create a product using your hundreds of thousands of patents. Otherwise let people improve upon them like open source software. Simple as IMO.
