"Nothing has said the Android 13 update for the Phone (1) will only arrive in the first half of 2023, meaning any time between January and June"

They don't even have someone to do the update, do they?

No really, there were some companies in the past that had very late updates of new Android version, because they had like 1 guy do the updates for a half dozen of phones.

And here we have the "over hyped" phone that doesn't get the updates for at least 4 months, their only phone mind you.

Absolutely not surprised, I don't have any hate against the company (yet) but this all feels like a s***show.

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2022Samsung before S10 used to provide new android by march/apr... moreIndeed, but Nothing released only one phone, plus it's close to stock Android, they have 0 excuse to take all this time to update it.

While I still use Android 11 on my OnePlus 7T and major updates become less important - I would feel disappointed that Nothing is basically Stock android and I need to wait half a year.

                  An hype..

It's actually not a big deal because updating software isn't a big deal like it used to be. You got maybe iPhone owners bragging about their 5-years of software updates but then by Year 3 or 4, battery life gets butchered thanks to it. Most Android owners don't even know what version they're on.

I'm planning to stay on Android 11 for as long as possible. Treat it like Windows XP that was still being used for 10 years. Updating software is extremely overrated and overkill. And if you have to wait 6 months later, who cares? No need to rush. Let the early bugs clear out.

Why can't people just admit that it is a normal overpriced overhyped midrange phone?

But but but it has lights on the back (:

Carl Pei is a master at marketing. He fooled enthusiasts once with Never Settle and Clearer Photos (OnePlus), and he will do it again with Nothing Phone.

He should create some cyrptocurrency with a weird name and people will got crazy and buy it no matter what.

Wouldn't the strategy be better to keep the 2 or 3 who bought it happy? and thus attract more people? Or is the mega hype no longer enough? 2 years I give this company to disappear

The hype train got a little stuck in his own bullshit.

And then the apple and samsung haters come out haha but they are the 2 companies that are at least not worrying about the updates! how does a guy from a new company come out to say such things? instead of providing android 13 to give a good impression and attract potential buyers... I give this company 2 years for BBK to buy it

That is another blow against this phone which is basically stock android. If they have so much problems to get Android 13 running on this phone they are really in a world of hurt.

and then they'll say Nothing Phone 1 won't get amount of Android updates that they promised.
