Anonymous, 03 Sep 2022Effectively replaces HDMI 2.1 while being significantly sma... moreIt might, in places.
    .

There’s no advantage in most monitors to support HDMI via Type-C. For one, the video outputs that run as alternate modes on Type-C connectors, such as HDMI and DisplayPort, are “source” modes. They are intended only to drive these video standards, not accept them for display. It’s certainly possible to add alternate modes for display sink, but there’s no compelling reason. HDMI already has its connector standards. The main reason to make Type-C an “everything” connector is for a phone or laptop with limited space.

And in particular, data protocols that run faster than USB require special electronically “tagged” cables that identify the cable function. So you don’t run HDMI over a USB Type-C cable, you run HDMI over an HDMI cable that’s terminated in a Type-C connector at one end and electronically tagged as an HDMI cable.

It does make sense for a laptop or even a table/phone to use Type-C instead of HDMI. In fact, many already do. Phones going back years supported the MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) video standard via the USB Mico-B connector’s only common alternate mode. A laptop could manage HDMI and DisplayPort via a Type C connector, allowing that to of course support normal USB stuff as well. So it’s a good idea for these devices, since most users probably never use an HDMI connection.

Same ps/2 connectors for mouse and keyboards

I don’t know why manufacturers are so slow to put the latest ports on devices. Must be because they want to be cheap. Most laptops don’t even have 3.2 Gen2x2 (20 gbps) and a lot of phones are still using USB 2.0! This is one thing Apple is quite good at though, putting the latest ports on their laptops. We won’t see Thunderbolt 4 & USB 4.0 everywhere for years!

And for Apple users, it even don't matter.

The USB group is known for having the most ridiculous naming system. Probably will be known as USB 4.1 or USB 4.0 Gen2.

blue, 02 Sep 2022Or maybe because nobody really cares about transfer speed. ... moretrue upto some extend.
because companies do nto provide option of sd card slot.... most of the people store everything online so they dont need data cables or dont use data cable for transfering files.
which is cool as well, you must have backup of your data.
but you need to have ofline storage as well of the same data (atleast for the imp files & document) because you should not be fully depended on online storage only or else, in case of emergency you would endup with problem.

in my case, i need sd card slot + high speed trasnfer rate on data as well as on sd card.

and believe it or not, about80% of the people need usb cord, mostly people keep the phone connected overnight with laptop or pc for trasnfering big files or while taking full back of storage which ends up with consumption of electricity as well.
what if the same can be transferred within a hour on high speed data cables ?

problem is people team they are smart because they have only backup but the fact is, they are lazy (my view, i can be wrong)

but heym do say they dont use usb cables much,..... udk, tomorrow oems will eliminate usb cable from the box and make use purchase the same :P xD
