Vikass17, 14 Sep 2022It was being developed for cameras before Google baught it ... morethey cannot close it. android simply doesn't belong to google. there are 84 companies contributing to it. just because google puts the largest effort into android so it can sell it as a google product, it doesn't mean that it belongs to google. they have no right to claim it was theirs. if it would be a google product, then no smartphone company would be able to modify it in their own interests. it would be like ios. huawei for example took android and created a new extremely different os that can cope without any google service. did they steal it? no. why doesn't apple get fined for its ios? because it belongs to them. but google gets fined because android is not their product and they misuse it to distribute their own apps and software through it.

Absolutely NO. Android is an open-source OS which means that many developers are adding and maintaining many features for free. Even organisations like Qualcomm, JetBrains, Ittiam, ARM, etc. contribute a lot
In fact, Google's stock Android is undoubtedly "the most retarded version of Android". Forget custom ROMs (since they are ages ahead), even sking from other manufacturers like OneUI, MIUI, ColorOS, etc. have had many features from ages which isn't even available today with stock Android
According to your logic, Google should start paying them for the ideas because the profit goes to Google ONLY

EU has become a regulatory superstate. The EU parliamentarians think regulations make a country or region richer. Each regulation they impose has a cost to society. The Bureaucratic burden has extreme costs which people do not see. Does google publish how much it spends for R&D vs just compliance of various Government and extra Government burdens like ESG reporting and LGBTQ reporting? There was a time when companies used to spend 30% of income on Capex and R&D. These days when you combine both, it is not even 10%. Compliance is the single biggest burden on companies and administrators do not add value to the Economy, in fact they take away value by means of RED TAPE.
Can a small EU start up which hopes to be the next google one day, can they afford these compliance burdens? Europe and its woke mob has lost it and America is close to it too. The common man will suffer under the new rule of the Bureaucrats and Technocrats. This is undemocratic, directly elected politicians are not in charge any more , it is the Bureaucrats and Technocrats

They basically have a monopoly. And you have very little freedom.
Android market is less of a monopoly, and you have a lot of freedom.
...I hope things change but that means less money for Apple, so I doubt it.

Because you can't buy a phone without Google's crap if you don't want it and if you do remove it, this brings bunch of dumb problems like having to use phone with unlocked bootloader which makes a lot of apps whiny. And I don't think this part has been improved that you can lock bootloader with any phone or ROM after it's flashed.
