20 October 2022
The notch is in, the TouchID home button is out - the next iPhone SE will jump forward to the FaceID era of iPhones.

Tbh makes more sense if Apple would use the 13 mini design for the SE model so they have at least a small model offering and not totally neglect that area of the market. Using the XR design makes zero sense to me.

I would like the home button or have it moved to the top like how they did with the new ipad (that could be innovation). Remove the notch (I mean have the dynamic island smaller (may be in iPhone SE11 (year 2042)) My point is APPLE is just smart when it comes to hooking zombie consumers to their "slap an apple logo on an old design" and make money from it. I hope SOMEONE WILL SURPASS TIM COOK FOR HIS bad legacy.

What I did notice is a drastic difference in battery drain between 1080p display and 720p resolution upscaled to display. It's pointless and adds no worthwhile value.

        Anonymous, 21 Oct 2022Not buying it if they ditch the fingerprint reader. And where do you expect to put fingerprint reader on a phone that was designed without it in mind?

                  Wake up dude, the XR display isn’t as sharp as some, but it’s far from blurry. If you find it otherwise, suggest you go see an optician. But then that advice might be 10 years too late for you.

                      I remember the first SE replaced 5S, and second SE replaced iPhone 8 from Apple’s lineup. 2022 model remained same design wise.
                      With that in mind, I really don’t think that Apple would bring any previous models back to life. XR, 11 or any other model mentioned here are not currently on sale officially.
                      Current lineup doesn’t need any budget FaceID or OLED notch design iPhone. Those already exists, starting from $599.
                      As with the telephoto lens, which has been exclusively included in top models, notch design and FaceID won’t find their way in SEs any time soon.

                            I had 1080p devices before I owned an XR, hell I had the LG G3 when it came out and that was 1440p, going by your logic I should now find anything less ‘blurry af’…and yet I do not. Also I have a 4k tv downstairs and a 1080p tv in my bedroom, the bedroom one should be (again going by your logic) totally useless to me as I shouldn’t be able to make out anything on the screen due to how blurry it is, right?

                            Besides iPhone customers will by and large go for an iPhone. I never understand whenever one of you droid faithful come out with your ‘but but but you can get this on Android…’ line. It doesn’t run iOS, which shockingly is the main draw for those who like iOS.

                              Will the battery be useful on this one? SE dies in 7 days standby with no app useage or any calls made or received. It's horrible.

The iPhone XR display has only 57% of the pixels on the Pixel 6a display. This is a meaningful difference and it is immediately noticeable to someone who has used 1080p phones. If you put the phones side by side it is even much more noticeable.

                                  Based on the thins , we saw so far, my bet is, It will look like a XR and it will sell for $499;
                                  Which means, we are looking for XR rebrand.

                                    Give me a break!

                                      DaFink, 20 Oct 2022If they can somehow get it to match the current SE prices, ... moreWhether or not you think 1080p matters is pretty irrelevant. It's a hard sale when you can get 1080p on much cheaper phones. The 828p 6.1" display on the iPhone XR looks blurry af. There is no need for this on a presumably $400+ phone.

                                        Would it cost Apple much to base the next iPhone SE on the iPhone 11 rather than the XR? It's the same phone, only with a second ultra wide camera and a better front camera. But maximising profits is the key. And if the SE phones keep up in the years to come, would a regular iPhone 12 become the next SE in say six years?
