And most people are NOT tech savvy or conscious enough to even care

This why it is bad to live in an ec ho e chamber and not make the effort to listening to point of views that directly oppose what you believe in so you can have a more accurate outlook on the whole picture

There maybe be a few exceptions but overall the experience is equivalent nowadays especially considering vulkan

Good, happy for them.
Now convince the phone manufacturers, to actual release smartphones with newest chipsets (especially in the mid-range category). Rather than just reuse old ones (like SD870 or Helio Gxx chipsets) or use average ones (like SD695).
And of course, this phones to not cost 700+EUR. Because the minute I see some good chipset on some nice phone, immediately I see the price increased too much. Or they put just the good chipsets on a phone and leave the rest of the phone below average (poor display, poor cameras, poor speakers, etc.).
I am not asking for the perfect phone at 400EUR, but at least bring back the so called "flagship killers". Nowadays flagship killer is considered a 700EUR phone, lol. And if you look at the 300-400EUR phones, majority of them are not worth buying.

In Emulation the difference is so huge especially in OpenGL. For comparison dimensity 9000 which is top Mtk CPU SMO is unplayable while 2018 SD soc 845 has better perfomance.
And even on Budget sd is better, SD 4 Gen 1 has cortex A78 which is better than anything at same price point.

You could also get thr Oneplus Ace pro (10t) with 12gb 256gb for US$417. There is not a big price gap between dimensity 9000+ phones and snapdragon 8+ gen1. Pricing is so similar in China that it's not really an issue. You can get an 8gb 256gb Realme gt2 pro in China currently for US$312 but it comes with the fire dragon 8 gen 1! That's still an amazing price though for a phone with a 2k Samsung ltpo screen and a decent camera setup. Even the Redmi note 12 pro+ will be around that price for 256gb
