There are performance improvements on all fronts, but Qualcomm stayed focused on efficiency. There are also AI and modem improvements.

Qualcomm had custom designs for years, krait cores were better than Arm designs, then Arm produced good cores from A72 to A78 they moved to Arm one, now X core, A710, A510 cant compete already they have Solution with Nuvia cores, they are in legal battle with Arm because of Nuvia, apart from cores their gpu adreno is custom one.

What does Mediatek, Amlogic, Unisoc and others do? They just use whatever Arm make,

If you have small hope for Android to compete with Apple is Qualcomm or Nvidia, Mediatek adds nothing they just use Arm designs which for 3 years now failed to impress.

    Let's gooo, vanilla S23 here I come.

      Well,atleast qualcomm managed to match a15 bionic cpu,now they are just one generation behind as opposed to two generations before 8g2..qualcomm might even take the crown from apple in near future

          unless arm comes with a520 completely releived of 32bit support and a715 successor with improved performance and efficiency, i dont see the point in buying sd8 gen 2 chip phone.

            Recording requires encoding. I think no smartphone SoC has av1 encoding for now only latest desktop GPU has it.

                          another day another weird decision to still use A510 cores on a flagship SoC. by this point, everyone already knows that Apple small cores offers twice the performance at only half the power usage of a typical A510 cores. instead of relying on small cores by Arm, start designing an actual efficient cores based on A715 that has dynamic voltage, highly tuned scheduler, and running at it's peak efficiency curve.

                          Qualcomm are lazy and doesn't innovates anymore, and now the consumer must pay the price of near monopoly by Qualcomm. Mediatek could only hope to have such high margin on a high end.

                                  As nice as it is to see ray tracing come to mobile, it is probably a pointless addition, merely because lazy android developers cannot be bothered to make half decent mobile games, with perhaps 4 or 5 games that are partially decent.
                                  You should really produce some high quality console level games, i'm sure if you produced some proper console style games you would sell a lot, and by console level I mean graphically, I mean solo missions/levels I mean offline modes you know for those who travel or are on the move or those that simply do not have a constant connection for whatever reason.
                                  Im all for multi player games but they get stagnant, and sometimes I just want to play a levels based game which doesn't require me to constantly have to buy tokens and be connected to the internet, think of something like Fifa where I can actually just play football rather then the current stupid version (of course Fifa is no more now, it will be called EA Sports FC going forward) or call of duty mobile but just playing solo missions/campaigns.
                                  Surely you can introduce measures to block games from being transferred from one device to another unless it is done in a verified way i.e moving to a new phone and simply downloading from the play store. it just seems like lazy developing before you have even produced something genuinely worthy of a mobile gaming experience.
