it's because of the battery performance in their phones plus the ineffective marketing strategies. almost all their phones come with mediocre batteries that are not able to sustain a smartphone's daily tasks. maybe they should release a waterproof butterfly and stick a battery of more than 2500mah

Would've bought the DNA, but not waterproof, if no sd then 64gb min, not sure how easy HTC unlocks as I would have to use it in Canada (was never released here). Going to buy a Sony Z even if I have to ship it. Don't understand why these companies make waterproof phones, but never available in N. America.

This is due to ugly design and what others are saying lack of features.

If they just added these two things to their phones, especially the new HTC ONE, it would sell like HOT cakes 1) Removable battery 2)Micro SD card expansion.
I have owned the HTC Incredible and the HTC Rezound, both real nice phones, and the reason I stuck with HTC was because of those two features. If you search the web, 80% of HTC owners want these two features back, but HTC for whatever reason is not paying attention. On my last upgrade I went with the S3, which is a fantastic smartphone, has all the features a consumer would want, Samsung listens to their customers "the people who keep their business going", and it looks like LG is building the same business model as Samsung's, you can not go wrong with Samsung's business model.

dear HTC just dont make smartphones with crappy hardware and battery life anymore, please continue to focus your efforts on building products like HTC-ONE soon Samsung will fold down like Nokia, HTC has the advantage of getting bipolar with their OS offering be it Win8 or Android, good luck HTC!

its amazing how many people have now become marketing and sales gurus. not to mention that they are also product geniouses and wish to tell us exactly whats wrong with htc's business model. i really have to LOL at them. htc spend millions and have the top marketers etc so i think theyll have a better idea than you or me. especially when they spend months evaluating the market and products etc. Its theyre job to know rather than thinking about something for a few seconds and posting it online

All these manufacturers are essentially the same - they dont produce anything different, so then it all comes down to marketing and perception. They all do the same job, with most functions not even used by the average consumer. So what about benchmarks etc. They mean little or nothing to 90% of the buying public - so marketing and the ability to keep producing so called new products is all the public wants. Samsung can just as easy fall down as Apple, such is the fickle nature of the buying public. Frankly HTC produce an excellent product which is not marketed well, so do something about it.
