It's a nice future-proof feature.

My parents doesn't have a great eyesight since they both wear glasses, but even they can tell 4K shows better detail than 1080p. It's 5K and 8K that people, including myself, really cannot tell the difference.

İ record 8K with S22+ and i like it i have 8K QLED in my home and i see the difference its verry good but 24 is verry choppy for scenes with moving and dynamic better 4k 60fps but 8k 24p is good for more still scenes with no moving pr little moving for example slow dance or calm walk in the park. With 30fps 8k will be much better i would like 8k 60fps but it will take 1 or 2 more generations.

Hanif Fikri, 10 Dec 2022Pls also do s22 series sd slot version. I would pay extra 1000$Sony does flagship phones too with it already. Just get it.

Phones cant even process 8k if the screen is 1080p. My screen is 1080p but if i run 4k vids on it. I can see the big difference. But i dont think my phone would be able to show me any higher than that. Itll be too small of a difference, cuz it wont process it.

I am using 720p@30/60fps or 1080p@30/60fps.I see no major quality difference in a phone screen but,4K@30fps filesize difference is huge.I even cannot think of 8K.besides,4K is the common norm in hom TVs. 85" 8K TVs are just a handful of flagship TVs which require a huge investment. 85" size will never be a norm for a house usage. so,8K will also be useless in the future.

The difference between 30fps and 24fps isn't the problem. The problem is smooth motion which most OEM's can't seem to get right whether it's 24 or 30. They seem to have problems with frame-times and bad looking video overall.

8K recording on a tiny phone where litterary any 200-300 eur camera does equal or better job is a waste.
Phones will never be builded way rgey can surpase Hubble telescope or James Webber telescope no matter what.
Phones shuld stayed at 4K at most for anything else even a cheap 500 eur mirrorless full frame camera does billions times better tricks than Samsung will ever do in upcoming next 10-20 maybe even 30 years.

8K as such is largely useless today, because most of us don't even edit or crop videos and most of us don't have 8K screens. We'll be hogging big space on disks, unless we really plan to get a 8K screen in future.

I think video development should go in this direction:-> add mild to mid HDR which is ISO based, go higher fps, add dynamic range in non HDR videos, give more control over stabilisation including not stabilising it while panning, give higher bitrate option, RAW options, clean video out to external recorder, etc, etc. instead of just resolution.
Adding all this would be so awesome even if its just at 4K60.
Even today, mobile phone footages barely qualify in proper video production.

XD Yeah, Samsung is the lord savior who wants to give people freedom and everything free. Sure. If there was no Apple, god knows how smartphones would even look like today as they were the ones who made it mainstream, despite Ericsson doing it first around year 2000 with their R380 model which was the first mainstream smartphone. Just look how Nokia smartphones were when iPhone was launched. They were better at some things, but in general they were pretty clumsy to use.
