Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra to feature a lower-resolution selfie camera

It's going to feature the same selfie camera as its other two siblings, the S23 and S23+.

      Nice downgrade... Guess we are going backwards on everything. First thry downgraded the haptics and the sound from S21U now this.

            Anonymous, 20 Dec 2022Haven't you still got your S10 charger ?I have so many chargers that when we go on vacation, instead of taking my regular charger I just grab the small back with the travel chargers in it. 2 35W/15W dual adapters w/ 2 1.8m cables, 1 Type-C to Type-C cable, 2 Type-A to Type-C cables & a Galaxy Watch cable. I'm sure he has some extra chargers lying around somewhere.

                  Doesn't the S22 series already have AF on the Front camera, Samsung has had this S10 series if I remember correctly. What's this guy on about?

                    Not a big deal. I don't see why anyone would need a 40 MP selfie camera. 12 MP is good enough. Also, as said, MP isn't everything. The end results may be comparable.

                      i see no benefit of high pixel count unless it is used for lossless continuous digital zoom like on s21 and iphone14pro. obviously,this is only a use case for rear camera,not selfie camera. only difference in flagship selfie cameras is low light quality and this has nothing to do with pixel counts.

Their approach is iterative with smaller changes and if user needs a new device, they'll have good experience just buying new one from same series. Something it's hard to say for any Chinese brand as they are always all over the place. Apple is same as Samsung. They have iterative approach and someone that's happy with iPhone will be happy with whatever new iPhone as well. You all scream like that's a bad thing, but for average user it's great because they don't need to spend 3 days online digging through specs. They just buy and enjoy.

                                  It could be a lower Megapixel but with a larger sensor. Only time will tell.

I have s10 but for my sake I would definitely not ... moreI left Samsung and went to the Mate 20x for 3 or 4 years before going back to the S22 Ultra. The step up was massive in all aspects especially cameras. In reality there isn't much difference between all of the latest flagship models. It basically comes down to the OS you use and a few minor aspects. I'll upgrade to the S23U for a better camera. At the end of the day I can claim it on tax, sell the old one and it costs nothing.

                                      I thought PDAF in selfie camera means the camera already had autofocus. Not sure what the writer meant in the final paragraph.
