more interested in type-c for all smartphones sold in Europe. Not so much for replaceable battery.

No need to manage anything, leave everything attached to your wired device -- it's not any more cumbersome than it already is, if you can manage that cable then the extra centimeters will not matter.

They were just yet another thing to replace. Besides, them having to use the USB-C port wears it out faster, a thing that, in my experience, already wears out fast enough without having to have to use it for another purpose.
And Bluetooth still has too much latency for me, so that's out too.

Imagine anyone thinking that EU will mandate phones coming with chargers in the box when the forced switch to USB-C for everyone includes plans to no longer include the cable in the box in the future. EU actually agrees with Apple that excluding stuff you get for free when you buy a phone reduces e-waste.

Portable devices include laptops and tablets as well.
The intent is good but might result in people using unsafe batteries or disposing old batteries in the trashcan in an unsafe way.

Anonym, 22 Dec 2022A simple Y cable will solve that.it's handheld device not pc . what you say is not practical. there are many inconvenience.. like the little adapter going under your bed , being damaged, being uncomfortable to use your phone while in hand , getting loose over time , even your kids swallowing it in whole .
eradicating 3.5 mm jack is anti people . we got shi t do in real life . can't nurse a piece of gadget like a baby . and provide it with things like adapter , cooling pad , back covers , not over charge it or empty it's battery . they just give anxiety .
why everyone takes back cover as a "supposed to be" ? almost nobody agrees to the fact that it's a design flaw of all smartphone.

There are literally no such reasons for an obligatory SD-card slot, other than convenience and these laws are not about that, they are about cutting waste and making stuff more fair by challenging the monopolies big tech companies have,

My dream phone is a great compact with an sd slot, and most compacts don't have it. iPhone 13 Mini and 14 Pro definitely don't have one, and neither the Zenfone 9. Samsung had a great recipe until they screwed it up with the S21. Xperia 5 IV has it but that phone has its own set of flaws.
