21 December 2022
This means the A5x will now be the premier option in the A family.

hope this means the A5's will get some better-than-expected internals fit for the top dog in the line. Also, I hope they trim down their lower As. Just so many of them.

That's what you get when you remove the headphone jack from a mid range phone with a price tag of $500
      Bleh!

The only phones I would consider from Scamsung are the s10e and a52s. they're the only products in their lineup that aren't complete scams

Samsung not have note series, not have a7x series, not have phone 500-1000 € . Not good strategy !

Nobody ever thought that the A74 might be released in March?

I think it comes down to screen size. I got the A71 because of the 6.7 screen and the 64 mp camera. My wife has the A51 and it seems small to me. It looks like people are buying the 6.5 or 6.1 inch screen size more, because unlike you geeks, it's about size, camera and quality of the screen for most people. If you didn't notice Samsung seems to be on a two year upgrade thing. First the A5x then the A7x, the A51 and A71 were good phones. But the A52 had a better upgrade and then the A73 had the better upgrade, even though the A50 series always sells better. Anyways, I like the bigger screen.

Now make A50 series great again. Use a decent Snapdragon.

I came back to Samsung after a long long time and I'm disappointed that picked the A53 instead of A52S.
I had to, for some reasons, but the cpu sometimes seems to be underwhelmingly slow. For a 450€ phone, not acceptable.
If you people can, better grab a full ram/storage A52S instead. It's chipset has to be much more descent. Plus the 3.5mm etc.

As for A73, it never really came into Europe.

Rbx, 22 Dec 2022I knew ditching sd card slot and audio jack will be its dow... moreIt's not surprising that A52 and A72 series are still in hot demand. I see more and more people looking for them than the current A53 5G and A73 5G. It's the same story with the S10 series despite Samsung no longer giving OS updates.

magnaroader, 22 Dec 2022Honestly they would be foolish not to add an FE option next... moreTo this day, the 2019 A90 5G still remains the only Galaxy A model with DeX support. No other Galaxy A phone has such a capability. Even the S10 Lite, which was initially known as the A91, also doesn't have DeX support.

This can only mean that the A54 will increase in price, as such Samsung probably think the A74 would not be selling well at an even higher price point.

Simply means, the A54 becomes the successor of the A73, taking the most expensive A model. Prince increase across the board, and the previous A5x price points will be handled by the A34.

Anonymous, 22 Dec 2022It already ended with A73, which was a downgrade - no 3.5mm... moreI knew ditching sd card slot and audio jack will be its downfall, unlike its predecessors which sold quite well.
A5x series could have the same fate also if they keep following this bad trend.

this is Samsung strategy if it don't sell cancel it and it is not the first time they are doing it. just look at the j series a9 or a8 series of the past

Good, they were still using old ufs 2.1 and lpddr4x on expensive models like A73 nor it was placed in monthly update schedule

too expensive to begin with but poor specs like the previous model e.g. a9 or something which is nearly flagshp pricing.

magnaroader, 22 Dec 2022You are perhaps forgetting the A0 series, the A2x and the A... moreWe haven't seen any new A4x model since the 2020 A42 5G. Also, A6x is long dead since we never see A61. Same story with A8x.

People buy A7x because of Snapdragon SoC at a more reasonable price. A5x phones have Exynos SoCs, but not everyone wants that. Unless Samsung is going to treat the Galaxy S FE as the A7x replacement, I can't understand this move.
