I own zenfone 9 and i can confirm that its a beast! Using it for 4 months with 0 issues. The only disadvantage is that the camera is mediocre tbh. I think that iPhone and pixel phones have much better cameras.

Nowdays I do for 2 simple reasons, one is that I use my phone a lot with one hand, phones got way too big and I don’t have tiny hands, you just have less grip with them nowdays.

Second one is price, dropping my €400 iphone 4 (work phone) or S1 (private) was cheaper to replace, nowdays midrange phones are more expensive than that…

And sure all 3 also quickly fix the issues, but I rather have slightly leas updates that are more stable.

But it could be worse… (glares at Windows 11)

As a windows user myself, Windows is much worse.

Sorry maybe in some countries but recently my uncle had to replace his LG running Android 6.0 because over 3/4th of apps he is using started to require Android 7, 8 and in one case even 10.

And sure nothing to complain about that, absolutely nothing… but claiming “majority” of still existing and up to date apps runs on older versions is not true.

If you want to take that risk, it's 100% your choice, but for most people it would be foolish not to use a case on a 1000$+ device.

I have never and will never use cases on my phones. These companies make the phones small and sleek then someone throws a case on that just adds bulk for no reason. Use a screen protector and just don't be a butterfingers. They're not hard to take care of.

Having the newest phone or newest version of Android is an upsale tactic for these companies. Motorola used to push updates lightning fast before their leadership was folded into Google. Many of the companies using Android One were pushing updates within a month. Samsung's sales are so good they don't have to use this as a sales tactic anymore and now they use it for customer retention. Hopefully the other OEMs will follow suit.

It does not effect phone performance. A premium phone can be made of plastic, if you care that much about the back material that you're gonna cover in a case anyways, I believe the word you're looking for is luxury:
2 A something adding to pleasure or comfort but not absolutely necessary

But plastic? Plastic phones will never be premium

Asus isn't making a large screen flagship because that segment is over saturated.

OIS is required for photos, since your Smartphone Camera takes multiple shots of varying exposures, and does some post processing to give the perfect photo. Be it night or day, OIS will help you get a sharper image. On the contrary, videos can look good with EIS too. In tests, Zenfone 6 EIS actually beat Oneplus 7 OIS. This isn't a surprise since OIS might just help getting a less blurry frame when the exposure is long. But since we have videos at 60-240fps, there's not enough time to capture long exposures. Also note that Videos are being recorded at higher bit-depths and resolutions too. If your phone camera started taking multiple exposures, it will run of memory, For those reasons, OIS is turned off at high fps / hight resolution video recordings, because it's not gonna help in single shorter exposures. All you need is more light.

Phone made of glass will always looks more expensive than same phone with plastic back.
S5 and S6 are best example.
You look at s6, you are sure it was a $700 phone, while S5 looks like a $90.
