It can only correct a few MM, which for most people your arm is gonna sway more than that on a long exposure, and on short exposures it's not gonna blur, OIS or not.

If I had option to remain with iOS12 (its original version) , right now my device would have 0 issues.
I could not, because many apps I have back then were asking iOS13. Since iOS 14 was available, 14 was installed by the system.
Then you install iOS15 hoping bugs will be gone, nothing.
Then iOS 16, bugs still here.
IOS17 may be last update for me, so in less than 2 years I have to buy another device to use apps that will start to lose support when iOS18 comes out.

Majority of android apps even still work for 4.2. Huge amount.

UltraHD, 01 Jan 2023What are you even talking about? I know someone with iOS 14... moreApple is a 2 trillion$ company and you're comparing their software update frequency to that of manufacturers with pennies of net worth compared to them?

Anonymous, 01 Jan 2023Just look at zen8 and zen9 to see which one looks more expe... moreGood thing we're all grown ups here and can understand that the utility a device provides is much more important than which material the back is made of, which will most assuredly be covered by a case anyways.

Also the Zenfone 9 retails for 699$ USD for the base configuration, nowhere near 1400$.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 2023OIS is only useful when shutter speed is between 1/4s - 1s.... moreLet me remind you that daylight shots often use very short exposures (1/400 - 1/4000 in broad daylight, trending towards higher) Of course, this depends on the sensor size and light sensitivity of your phone, these numbers apply to a 1/1.78" sensor. So if we do some quick math, say you're extremely strong and have the ability to shake your phone at 120KM/h. At that rate, it would be 2KM/m, and 33.3M/s respectively. For a 1/2000 exposure, that's 0.016 metres travelled, or 16 centimetres. Okay so that's not gonna be good. Say you're a normal person, and you can manage to not let your phone accelerate past 2KM/h while taking a picture. That's 0.00027 metres, or 2.7 millimeters at a 1/2000 exposure. Not gonna effect the shot much even if you have shaky hands. Daylight shots are really not what's effected by OIS. And the fact of that matter is any exposure above 1 second, most people are not going to be able hold their phone still enough to capture while standing. So while I understand why this might be a concern for video- through science and experience (think of the amazing shots the OnePlus 9 kicked out without OIS), I can confidently say that this does not effect photography, especially considering EIS doesn't work on photos.

                    The 8.

A $1400 phone with glass can make you believe it costs $1400.
$1400 phone with plastic back, you not make you feel it costs $1400.

I know someone with iOS 14 running smoothly with 0 issues opening apps/using them. Apple is at least well aware of its issues unlike some brands that just ignore users experiences and receive updates every 4th month. Just because you had such experience, doesn't mean everyone has the exact same one.
Think out of a bubble next time.

                        Like XX.1, XX.2, XX.3 .....
Every update many users have issues with high battery draining.

It is so nice to have app crash when this app is the only one open.
One app open (simple app) and 90% ram being used, while I need over 100 apps open on my phone to have less than 90% used, this because my phone has 1GB only more.

As I have said before, if I buy a zenfone 9 I can keep same firmware out of box for years. Still able to use all apps I need for 5-6 years.
                        This is impossible with iOS.
If you device ships with iOS16, you start losing access to apps when iOS18 comes out if you do not update. This is wrong and should not happen.

Yes, no one has update 100% stable. There will always be users facing issues while other not.
But choice to not update should exist. But from apple is denied to users.

The animations smoother and snappier which I really like to see since they can finally compete against IOS' smoothness. Monet also gives off a brand-new experience which you can also customize it even further through Repainter

My point is that the material does not define the feel in the hand. In the same way frosted glass feels very different to smooth glass, soft touch plastic feels very different to a sheer plastic sheet. And it's not gonna break if you drop it. A phone doesn't have to use glass to be premium. Sometimes plastic is simply the better choice.

                              Exactly what happened to HMD.

Motorola is another example. G200 shipped with A11 and will never get A13.
G series do not get patches monthly, usually every 3-4 months. No matter if devices are new like 22,32,42,52,62,82.

You know, the phone everybody said was "terrible" and "LG should just stop making phone's" well they did, and 3 years later I'm left with device with expandable storage, a headphone jack, and fast performance. I guess LG wasn't so bad after all. I guess wired audio and expandable storage aren't the devil's spawn after all.

If A14 has this same garbage UI of A12 and A13 and doesn't bring back A10/A11 UI, I'll downgrade to a phone with A10 or A11 with SD865/870.

Hemedans, 01 Jan 2023Nothing has 3/4 year update policy and HMD still do update ... moreConsidering the kind of phones HMD makes and the price at which they sell it, if they didn't give as many updates, no one would buy them. That's their main selling point, bad hardware, worse value for money, but hey you get updates. I like Nothing's commitment, I'd expect Asus to bump up their software support, which is only possible if they do as aggressive marketing as Nothing, and sell as many or more devices than Nothing. Hopefully they'll achieve that with Zenfone 10 (which is already confirmed to rock a Sdragon Gen 2).

Making it unnecessarily heavier doesn't let user feel the newer and better hardware. This also promotes lazy and inefficient coding, lots of codes just for same result.

A12 has too much animations and it's practically unusable on 60hz. What functionality did we gain form this extra animation bloat? Nothing. Actually, on A12 and 13, double tapping to switch between 2 apps is painfully slow, which wasn't the case with any previous Android version. And the colouring scheme in A12 and 13? Awful, ugly and needlessly complicated, can't even select red or blue, forced to select light blue or pink, absolutely disgusting and sickening. And this disgusting tint effects every app.
