A droid, 05 Jan 2023My current phone has only around 500 nits brightness, and I... more1500nits in normal mode ist actually awesome for oled display and its enought for everithing you need to do and 2000 and more on sun for som kinda short period of time its also great , good job isamsung. by the way enought for you its about 1000nits regular and 1500 peak i tested it . but of course its there situation when you wanan 1500nits brightnes continuosly becouse every phone can doo peak brightness only for short period of time depend of quality of panel an of course owerheating so if you phone can doo 1500nits continuosly thats whats matter.

Anonymous, 05 Jan 2023Explaining you like you're 5. People here: sony ,... moreWhat are you on? This isn't for watching movies. It's so that you can clearly see the screen outdoor.

Anonymous, 05 Jan 2023Explaining you like you're 5. People here: sony ,... moreThe Xperia phones don't have 4K display anymore. Sony "fixed" several half-assed features in the Android 12 update by removing them entirely.
I hear that Sony is fixing unreliable fingerprint readers by disabling them in Android 13. If you were getting random unlock attempts before, the feature will go away.

full manual brightness + full screen + srgb = 1500 nits

            what i hate

            hdr+5% window + 200000 nits for 2 nanoseconds gimmick

People here: sony , stop wasting battery and money on 4K 21:9 screen. Nobody watches movies or tv content on small cellphones screen. We have tvs for this. Trade it for QHD 20:9 curved exactly like samsung does despite its lower quality.

Same people: Wow !! Extremely well done samsung, cant wait to watch my netflix/hbo max/disney+/amazon prime video stuff wherever I go on my phone, since I cant carry my tv in my pocket.

Jim, 05 Jan 2023I bet they will raise prices cuz the screen gets brighter..... moreI am thinking about changing my almost 6 yo s8 with a s20 xD. Exactly because of this. I don't need all these "new" tech, prices are higher, income is lower. Simple as that.

My current phone has only around 500 nits brightness, and I can't clearly see display in sunlight. I am still confused about how many nits will be more than good enough in my next smartphone without making any compromise in direct sunlight.. 1000 or 1500?

Samsung is not without problems, but it is the best phone... I think if Samsung had not thought of making the Exynos disaster processors, it would have a much larger share of the market now.
