6.5 - 6.7 inches screen is good enough less than that is not ideal for me because of multimedia content and I'm already used to it.

6.1"-6.4" is the ideal size. Anything bigger should be foldable or rollable. 5.5" and below are bad for the eyes and UI too small that changing font makes it cluttered but you guys do you.

I thought a bit and understood, that question "what is the ideal screen size for a smartphone?" is not good, because screen can take different part of front surface of phone, it can take almost all front surface of phone and can be only 70% or even less, so better question would be "what is the ideal size of smartphone?"

        My answer is: www.gsmarena.com/nokia_5235_comes_with_music-3056.php
This phone has optimal size, it is not too little and not too big. I want phone with such size, but with modern camera, modern CPU, modern hardware.

I think I'll only go for rugged, niche phones for now on. They still provide a headphone jack and expandable storage. It's like they were built during the 1990s when phones were built tough. The Tonka trucks of phones. Unihertz, Doogee, Ulefone, or Sonim...

All the expensive mainstream phones we're getting are built to break faster so we keep upgrading as often as possible. So if I go large and bulky, it has to be a rugged phone with a huge battery capacity.

You can't judge a phone by the size of the screen alone . I don't mind a phone that is 7 inches and still weighs just 175 gram or less . But I would reject never want a phone that is 6 inches but weighs 200g .

                    I have the Samsung A71. 6.7"

Feels good in my hand, but I certainly wouldn't want anything bigger.

6.1 inch at 19.5:9 seems like a decent screen size, although Xiaomi 13 has proven that 6.4 inches at 20:9 looks to be a Goldilock zone if you want big phones that you can handle around your hand.

I know smartphone are going big to put in better hardware, but if it doesn't accommodate for better hand usability, then you're better off getting a tablet. Handling big phones that became heavier for no reason has recently became a chore.

I've used everything from 12 digit LCD displays up to 6.7 inch. In fact I had the Sony with the 6.4 inch screen as a work phone at one point and people were amazed by it. Currently my wife has a Pixel 5 which is a nice size, and I have a Sony 5 III, which I find ideal, and a 6.7 inch Oppo which is a very nice phone to use but really just too big for carrying around.
So nearly 30 years of experience says about 6 inches is the best.

Gsmarena, you need to make a new poll and ask about which aspect ratio people find perfect and put 16:9 as one of the answers. I think we may be surprised by the results considering no one makes them anymore. And I also wonder how many people will choose 21:9 which I find terrible

As a guy who don't carry a purse or a man bag, I want my phone to fit comfortably in my front pant pocket. 6.1" screen or smaller is my preference.

Depending on aspect ratio it goes from 6.9 (16:9) to 8.3" (21:9) there are literally no phones for people like me :c

I use my phone as my primary computing device and I'm very wiling to sacrifice one handed use and pocketability for battery life, better immersion when consuming media, better awareness of my environment when i am on the go (you can keep the phone further away), better eye care, better components, bigger screens, more space to engineer and repair the device, better cooling, better IO.

The OG iphone was cool because it put together an MP3 player, an internet communicator and a phone "this are not three different devices".
the OG note was cooler because it added a tablet in the mix.
I hope one day to have a new phone like the mate 20x or similar that challenges the idea of phone being just phone and having to buy a watch and a tablet and a laptop etc etc.

In size of nokia 5230 phone can fit at least 1,7ah battery = 8-10 hours of talking time and 5-8 hours of web browsing time.
