R.I.P. Battery health
I prefer high quality phone with best UI and best aftersales support (service + software) like Samsung or Apple, like other majority of people, which explains why Apple and Samsung both have highest marketshare.
For me, ultra super duper fast charging pro feature is only a secondary thing and always will be.
R.I.P battery health of chinese phones.

I'll gladly trade fast charging for larger batteries and battery durability (since it's hard to replace them nowadays).

Original-Ghanaian , 22 Jan 2023Fast charging here, fast charging there, but have you wonder... moreHow are phone manufacturers gonna eat if they improve battery technology that would make you keep your phone longer?
Ofcos they would rather improve on the charging that will cook your battery faster, so you can get a new phone next year.

IMO companies should focus more on battery life than the charging speeds. If a phone charges in 10 minutes but dies in 6 hours, you'll still need to carry that huge brick with you.
How about a phone that lasts 2 days but charges in an hour? Shouldn't be that difficult to drop the phone out of your hand for an hour..

Looks like fewer than 10% of people here give a f* about the longevity of their battery.
I charge my phone with just a 1W charger. Rarely above 75%. In 4 years I've lost around 20% of my battery charge, vs over 50% for those who use fast charging and charge to 100%. You do it when you get back home anyways. What's the point of fast charging again? It could probably be used in emergency situations but beyond that? I dunno.
I've also noticed that fast charging gives you fake battery charge.
Compare fast charging and slow charging for the same amount of charging and you'll notice that the latter will give you more battery life. I don't have a scientific proof of that, but I'm dead sure about that.

The faster you charge a battery, the quicker the wear. I'd sacrifice speed of charging for longevity of the battery.

It depends.
If the batteries were replaceable and you shouldn't worry about its lifespan, the quicker the charge, the better.
But if the 100/200/1000/... Watt charging will kill the battery in a year and you'll have to disassemble the whole phone (hoping that IP68 etc. will be preserved) - I don't see much point in such a fast charging.

Personally, anything beyond 60W is an absolute overkill. It's not like most people are using their smartphone as a PC. Anything more than 60W makes perfect sense for laptops and tablets.

Fast charging IMO is a "nice to have" but not a need. My main priority is still, and always will be, bigger battery. They can give me 10k mAh battery which is totally possible with 18W "fast-charging" and I'd still be happy with it.

Funniest part of this is the fact some here think chinese OEMs make own batteries. And pack tech inside them.
😂🤣
Samsung is only phone maker that also produces batteries for phones/tablets.
All other are just clients.

Personally, I would like cable charging 30-45mins (I have Pixel 6a device, so it takes some time, but I charge over night). I do believe fast charging is great idea in itself, especially considering the batteries are really slowly improving it's capacity. Hopefully, it will get better in the future.
As of wireless charging, as long as it takes, or none. Wireless charging is good to have, but it will NOT make huge difference to me when considering a new phone.
