NotAFanB0Y, 24 Jan 2023Making it difficult to sideload apps is a stupid move... Pe... moreSound Apple ish? Apple doesn’t even allow side loading. You can still side load on Android, it’s just that Google is deprecating support for ancient apps that only target old Android versions. People should be applauding Google as this will help with security while still allow sideloading.

YUKI93, 24 Jan 2023So let me get this right: Google wants to block sideloading... moreExample.
Xperia uses now google photos and gboard instead of own Album/xperia keyboard. But you still can install both.
With android 14, no longer possible.

Not a big deal for me. I install only new apps anyway. Just improve performance and stability.

When Apple follows Android(or they are forced to follow by EU) -> Good.

Making it difficult to sideload apps is a stupid move... People who want to sideload an app will sideload it anyway.. But making it difficult or making it more tedious and time-consuming process will downgrade users experience..
This move sound like Apple-ish.. Android is great because it allows sideloading, and ability to do everything the user wants to do with it.. Restricting it will make it like iOS - useless..

So let me get this right: Google wants to block sideloading older versions of an app built for older versions of Android, is it? So even with the same build number of an app, you can't sideload the one built for, say, Android 9.0 Pie or Android 10. Imagine rolling out this kind of move to Chromebook laptops. It'd be game over. Almost all Chromebook laptops are still on Android 9.0 Pie Play Store support.

Lmao old versions of some apps are better than the new ones. The new ones are semi-furnished because of the fast-paced releases of newer versions of Android.
