My Xperia Z 6603 has sudden death issues too. Since update to Lollipop 5.1.1, after which managed to restart the phone on less than 4% power and it ran to dead, but no sudden death symptoms at all until I fixed the shattered screen a couple of weeks ago.

Am always able to restart the phone with external power plugged in, but even if it has been on charge for over a day and is definitely at 100% is reads only 65% on start-up. After a few minutes it updates to 100%. Have been doing some investigation using NeMa BatteryCalibration app. With the phone on external charge 100% is equivalent to 4140 mV. Removing external power, the voltage immediately drops to ~3800 mV while still reading 100%. After a few minutes voltage recovers to ~4000 mV, still showing 100%. Don't know whether this is normal battery behaviour, so I've ordered a new one anyway. Will also flash reinstall 5.1.1 and change the SIM. If that doesn't do it I'm buying a Samsung.

What is Sony doing to solve this????

I wasted a lot of money on this phone. I'll never buy anything from Sony again.

Z3 Dual Sudeden Death, once again, as the common theme on this tread, all combo's of buttons, "repair" via the PC software with zero response. Trip to the service shop, and now without that phone until its shipped off for repairs. Come on Sony, get your s*** together

Hi I had the same problem I would fully charge it but as soon as I try to use it, it would jump down to 80% then die. I tried everything even factory reset didn't work. So took it in to my local o2 store they sent it off for repair. Took a week but got in back and works perfect again and didn't have to pay a thing. Just make sure everything is backed up on sim or sd before taking it in.

Well being an Sony fan for my entire life.now have been facing problems with new sony M5, sim one does not function and the phone shuts down automatically leaving me helpless. I know sony is facing an issue with chip 810. But never has sony made products and sold that ever had problems before. Now seams the brand sony has become another cheap company. Trying to just survive any how selling bad products. Even their services centers behavior is bad.Never again will we ever buy an Sony products. Thanks for the learning "keep up to change "never keep faith in any companyname just check the products ".

i really fancied Sony xperia flagships and i got 1 for myself only for it die suddenly. i did the power button + volume buttons trick and downloaded an update for the software, it worked for 1 day and went blank again. it has remained dead ever since. i spent a lot of cash on it and it made me hate everything related to sony... i always discourage any1 who wants to buy an xperia phone... crap stuff
