omoba, 07 Oct 2015Hello. My xperia Z3 is suffering "sudden death" and this is... moreMy son's experience had just died. Tried all the usual tricks that are suggested on these forums. But just found one that suggested opening up the flap on the side where you put the micro Sd card and there is a tiny yellow dot. Get a pin (not a pen nib ad they are still too thick) and press it. Phone has come back on and is charging but there is a red light on (think it is normally green when charging) but at least the screen is back on!

Hello. My xperia Z3 is suffering "sudden death" and this is the first time, I have charged it up to 67%, i shuts it down and went to bed and to my surprise, I can not boot it on again...Even, there's no red charging light when I plug it to power cord, it just becomes a very expensive unuseful brick.
I have done any combination of buttons to try to boot it back on (power button + down volume key, power button + up volume key, press + hold the small yellow button near the sim slot, pressing volume down key while plugging the usb cord), but nothing worked.
Now I see that this is a very common issue on many xperia devices and Sony doesn't give any solution to fix this problem. Please I need a help.

Anonymous, 14 Aug 2015Hello everyone, I need your help! Last week I went to the ... moreI have the same problem with you. After i dipped my phone in the water (freshwater, and i also followed their guidelines in using it underwater) it was still functioning but after 2 hours it just blacked out. I did all the solutions posted in the internet (e.g. Switch and volume button etc) but still it did not turn on. The next day it suddenly turned on but now the screen keeps on flashing and the switch off notification keeps appearing, like the power button is pressed all the time but it does not lock when i press it.

Hello. My xperia Z3 compact is suffering "sudden death" randomly for the last 2 months (5 times till now). No matter of battery charge (40%, 60% or even 88%), it shuts down and then there's no way to boot it on again...Even, there's no red charging light when I plug it to power cord, it just becomes a very expensive unuseful brick.
I have done any combination of buttons to try to boot it back on (power button + down volume key, power button + up volume key, press + hold the small yellow button near the sim slot, pressing volume down key while plugging the usb cord), but nothing worked. It just came back to life alone after waiting a couple of days....
Now I see that this is a very common issue on many xperia devices but Sony doesn't give any solution to fix this problem. I'm very disappointed with them.

I would like to ask if this is a software issue or a hardware issue, when my phone is 15% it automatically shutdown, if this is a software any way of fixing it.. Thanks in advance.

The part of the problem is that the phone cannot switch off completely. This coming with full battery drainage. This causing trouble with reboot and so on... If nothing helps - the solution is hard! You have to open the phone disconnect and charge the battery manually.

Hello Friends I Found A Solution For This Red Light Flashing and Not Boot Up Problem On Z, Z Ultra, Z1, Z2, Z3 and many more.....

My Self Satish Kumar from India ........I got Sony Xperia Z1 Without any problem before Update......about couple of days ago i got update for my Sony Xperia Z1 for 5.1.1 i updated it at that time itself......and then i kept my phone on charge about half hour......and when i went back to see features of update then i found my mobile was not charging even my notification charging light was not working......but while connecting to wall charger i heard plugin sound.....then from that time i tried what ever i got on net.....even i downgraded my phone software to 4.4 and then plugged in charge it was still not working.......and then yesterday i read a comment......i did as comment says......just try this.....
                        1) first connect your phone to the wall charger and see if you getting same problem as i got (once you connect then you can see your notification red light will blink 3 times) if you got that then move to next step.
                        2) Remove your phone from wall charger and press (Power + Volume UP) Keys at a time and you will feel 3 time vibration once done move next
                        3) connect back to wall charger and then wait for 1 to 2 hours and you will see red light notification will work for 10 to 15 min and then it will automatically disconnect....but keep your eye on your phone once that red light will work and auto disconnect just let it happen for 2 to 3 times and then try to start your phone.
                        4) once your phone started it will start working but that charging problem and even battery draining will be there to resolve that you have to start in safe mode to enter in safe mode follow below step....
                        5) press power button you will see shutdown popup then press and hold on power off on screen you will get another popup it will take you to safe mode......your pone will start in safe mode you can see safe mode written on the left down corner......just connect your wall charger and try to charge you will see your your charger will connect and disconnect automatically in few seconds let it be for half hour.....then restart you mobile in normal mode and then charge it for 6 to 8 hours.......it will charge your mobile it will work for 10 to 15 min and will disconnect don't worry and let it be in charge for 6 to 8 hours......and once your mobile fully charge......use it normally until your battery goes below 50% and then next time when you connect to wall charger it will make you wait for 10 to 15 min or half to 1 hour......and then it will automatically start charging normally.......and your phone will be back from hell.....For any query mail me on satishks365@gmail.com

sumarian, 07 Sep 2015Got a new Sony z3 Compact last April 2015. Really am happy ... moreThis has been an issue with my Z3 Compact recently too. Always kept shutting down, even at 100%. Then I couldn't get it to turn on with the power button; that is, until I plug in the charger again.

The Sony Helpdesk asked me to install the PC Companion, install the Support Zone, and update the software. This was possible because I could still turn on my phone whenever the charger was attached. So far I haven't had it shut down just yet, but it's only just been a few hours. If it becomes stable for the rest of the week, I won't send the phone back to them for hardware replacement. :-)

Got a new Sony z3 Compact last April 2015. Really am happy with the phone until it went into Sudden Death. It happened 3 times now. The first time I got it to boot back on just by pressing the power button, but it corrupted my sd card. A week after, it shutdown again by itself (at almost full charge of battery). I have to do a number of combination of button pressing (power button + down volume key, power button + up volume key, press + hold the small yellow button near the sim slot, pressing volume down key while plugging the usb cord) to try to boot it back on. It did eventually after a left it on my desk after a few hours. I factory reset it afterwards then repair it via PC Companion. Now it has the Lollipop update and after a week it died again. And not responding to any of the steps I have done above also no response if its plugged in to a charger. No LED light whatsover. 24hrs now and Am still waiting for to boot back on and if not, I'll probably send it in for repairs. Wish me luck.

My xperia Z1C went dead after a faulty charging cable did not work. The phone indicated it was charging but it was not. The same happened when I charged my Samsung S3, indicated it was charging but did not. I found a working one which I tested on my Samsung S3 and tried it on the Sony phone. It did not work. I tried connecting the cable using the power and top volume button, the lower button combination, the power button only ,the up volume button only, the bottom button only, the red off button next to the sim card and each time I would connect the power after those buttons were pressed. I then did all those combinations with the power connected. Nothing.I waited about 3 hours and connected the power and it worked. Weird.
