I have a Chinese Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5(G) bought with Emui 10 in 2019.
It was updated to Emui 11 based on Android 10 as well -> 2020.
Then I received Harmony OS 2.0 based on Android 11 -> 2021 , and currently I have Harmony OS 3.0 based on Android 12 -> 2022.
And today in 2023 it continues to be updated with its corresponding security patches, with a completely smooth system and without any type of bug or lag with an impressive camera taking amazing pictures.

And yes I was clearly making it up, that's why I put it between quotation marks. It should've been clear anyways, given that I said Android 16.

At this point, you're making up stuff. No Android phone takes that long. Even my 6 year old phone doesn't take that long. Well anyways, iPhone XR might be a good phone for you. Affordable and "just works"

Also Samsung has started giving 4 major updates on mid-range phones. No other Android manufacturer does that

Anonymous, 31 Jan 2023Talking of A series, one thing Samsung is absolutely awesom... moreCouldn't care less about software updates on underpowered basic phones. I'm not gonna go like: "yeah my phone takes 30 seconds to open settings, but look how awesome Android 16 is on this 4 year old phone wow, stunning!!!" And I work at a mobile phone accessory store, I see at least 30 Samsung phones every day, it's so boring but the thing is I'm not talking A04s when I say it's slow, I have seen an A33 take 10 seconds to even get to the lockscreen after pressing the power button. I know 10 seconds doesn't sound like much, but even an 8 year old phone can do the same instantly.
Also my flagship chinese phone, the iQOO 5 Pro did get up from Android 10 to 12 and it will get 13 as well.

It may coincide with a return to 5G on mobile or that might come at a slightly later date.

The US is only interested in “free trade” and “fair competition” when it is winning. As soon as foreign industries are stronger such as Airbus and Japanese car makers, the US find excuse to ban/tax/steal
Are you surprised to learn the US banned its firms from paying Huawei loyalty on 5G patents. Stealing Huawei’s patents legally while claiming Huawei stole them from US firms that’s not even in 5G

Anonymous, 31 Jan 2023Agreed, to a certain extent.
The kids on this site are... moreWe used to have a global supply chain. The US was part of that. China began to challenge US technological hegemony and, through Huawei, took a lead in some strategic areas (5G being one of them and also the key to a new industrial revolution).
The US had been caught with its trousers down and completely missed that boat. Huawei was poised to literally dominate the 5G revolution and have a huge say in 6G. Economies would feel benefits of 5G everywhere at an industrial and CE level. At the same time Chinese manufacturers were not only consuming more semiconductor products, they were designing their own chipsets etc. Huawei (HiSilicon) was there again.
The most advanced chips were not being manufactured in the US, but in Taiwan. The US had basically nothing offer in that sense.
In the handset market, Huawei (again) was primed to storm into the US market.
If course Huawei was everywhere the US wanted to be but wasn't. ICT infrastructure, energy, science, software based technologies. Huawei was a huge competitor that the US had no answer to.
That's when the craziness started in earnest. Numerous senators (with the technological intellect of a goldfish and a shorter memory) began pronouncing speeches with evermore frenzied anti-Huawei rhetoric.
All this had actually started over ten years earlier with some truly Keystone Cops activities in the justice department. To the point of them trying to take a Chinese company to court that had literally no connection to Huawei but that just happened to have the word 'Huawei' in its name!
Anyway, various 'hawks' began talking publicly of 'destroying' and 'choking' Huawei. Even going to the point of saying they were scared to death of the company.
Faced with Huawei bettering numerous US companies on both products AND core technologies, Trump famously tweeted 'not on my watch' and began a government based campaign filled with accusations that have never ever been substantiated in any way. The US even took the unheard of step of re-opening a series of long closed civil cases in an attempt to make something stick.
That's when the 'protectionist' era began. Tim Cook had at least two private interviews with Trump around the time. It is inevitable that some might say, in hindsight, that some kind of protection was brokered for Apple. As it was, the door was closed to Huawei in the US and in spite of that (not having access to one of the largest CE markets on the planet) Huawei still managed to briefly take top spot in handset sales worldwide.
The the 'crusade' began with the US bludgeoning supposed allies into submission under threats if they didn't fall into line. Boris Johnson is rumored to have sat through five hours of a US official 'shouting' at him in order for the UK to back out of using Huawei 5G. A move that cost the UK a few billion and has seen them move evermore slowly in 5G industrialisation. All at the behest of the US.
Then the US started talking about, ehem, 'clean' networks (after having been exposed by Snowden as having some of the dirtiest networks on record). Not to mention the 30 year scandal with encryption that was only discovered a couple of years ago.
Then there was the Huawei CFO case. Wow!
So, it was one desperate act after another and it eventually pulled in other sovereign states against their will. Most of them royally angered by unilateral US foreign policy directly impacting their own sovereign interests. Often without prior consultation. See the last round of sanctions.
The upshot is that as the US has failed on vision and lacks the competitive edge to use the global supply chain in the correct way, it has set out to destroy it.
