      Since 8 Gen 2 has AV1 support there's technically no reason to avoid 8 Gen 2, but...

      8+ Gen 1 had an obsolète video decoder : no AV1 means hardware limitations with streaming in a couple of year.

      8 Gen 1 had heating problem compare to Dimensity 9000 and no AV1.

        Making a version for example of Vivo X90 Pro+ with SD778 would not suddenly cost $450-500 down from $1000.

            Dimensity chips are great on low and mid tier devices.

            For example the Dimensity 1200 on the Nord 2 which almost rivals the Snapdragon 870, while other companies at this price use the Snap778.

            Or the Dimensity 1080 which rivals the Snap778 compared to other devices with Snap695.

            But on flagship side, as much as people hate Qualcomm(even apple uses 5G qualcomm modems btw), Snapdragon is the way to go.

These thousands persons don't c... moreDolphin run on Mali which is way powerfull, powerfull enough to brute force Dolphin, Mtk soc which can handle Dolphin are new one with Cortex A78 something like D900 and above, even modern Cortex A76 soc like G96 cant handle Dolphin well, while you have Tegra with way worse core like A57 or Snapdragon from A73 days run Majority of games. And its 2023 if you look at monthly report of dolphin they still struggle with Mali plenty of bugs.

                About custom rom, its not like its impossible its just they dont have necessary tool they have to reverse engineer everything, work which should take few hours take days for them, those Redmi note 8 rom have lot of bugs, you can check yourself at Xda, they are more of proof of concept than Actual stable rom to use daily.

                  I think we should congratulate Mediatek for there extremely impressive mediatek flagship SoC... Do you remember when mediatek only did midrange or budget SoCs. And then all of a sudden Mediatek are right up there as a true flagship SoC... In fact the mediatek SoC is sooo good that it seems to perform better in the RoG phone 6D than snapdragon varients.

                  Isnt it good to have another king SoC flagship to choose from? At this rate I watching Mediatek very very closely. And taking them very seriously. To the point where I am even considering now Mediatek flagship SoC in a gaming phone...

                    These thousands persons don't care of Mali...they really don't care (I already try to make some of them change their mind...some explained me porting Android 9 Custom Rom on Redmi Note 8 Pro was impossible and will cause bootloop...now, there's custom Android 13 on Redmi Note 8 Pro)

                    What you describe on Aethersx is just what happened with Dolphin or Citra...now these 2 runs fine ! It's enough to say you're wrong!
                    Less Mali devs means more time to developpe! Simple to understand!
                    It's something linked to the past...

                    I already tried to explain you how it's hard to developpe emulators ! What is proprietary drivers, proprietary GPU and what is Low Level code...you speak about things you're not able to understand! I won't continue...it's waste of time

Off screen test is a test that use a fixed resolution for the render test no matter what the main screen resolution is. The main purpose of this test is so you can compare the performance to another phone without worrying about the phone screen resolution. Not about renderimg it to second screen LOL.
                      I'm not even a Snapdragon fanboy, but you are just a sad mediatek fanboy LOL. Snapdragon is still better for today.

If what you said is true then few among those thousands of people would prove others wrong by making better software for Mali.

                        I always give emulation Examples here, it started with Exagear they use Turnip, then Skyline followed, then Aethersx2 now Vita3k followed suite with customizable Drivers which made Snapdragon devices perform much much better some games arent playable at all with mali flagship like D9000 while Lowend like Sd 695 play them with ease.

                        Mediatek or Arm could do same, if they cant make these drivers the least they could do is release them and community could modify and optimize them for their software, but they dont care, they keep shipping broken drivers for more than 10 years now, and they have Enough fanboys to defend them.

                          Some games are limited according the name of the device.
                          Change the name of the device and you will unlock these limitations...
                          Did it a few years ago with Arena of Valor for exemple.

                          It's the same with apps like Netflix...there's a whitelist for HD...even with a L1 certication, some devices can't get HD! That's a real poison!
                          These should be forbiden!

                                        I think GSMArena should put the benchmark scores from the vivo iQOO 11 since it also runs on Funtouch OS but is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Nevertheless, I looked at the scores between the iQOO 11 and the X90 Pro. The Snapdragon wins in Geekbench, Antutu, and offscreen GFX. However, the Dimensity wins in onscreen GFX and 3DMark. This should be a fight worth watching.
