while the vanilla models will be using USB 2.0 speeds, which are identical to Lightning's.
Anyone will complaint if Xiaomi or other android brand use USB 2.0, but no complaint for apple? Lmao

It wouldn't come as a surprise. What's surprising tho, is people supporting and justifying this nonsense.

Their doing it to make USB C look bad and slower and worse than iPhone chargers.

No surprise there. It's one thing Apple is known for, limited functionality. Still begs the question whether this is used to sway cheap cables or to use either better cables or proprietary cable.

They'd put limitations on their USB-C ports because once they switch to that standard, there'd be thousands of third-party USB-C cables that would fit and work with the iPhone, especially those that are considerably more durable than Apple's own flimsy cables. Knowing this, Apple wouldn't let it happen, and would want to make sure that people would only use the cables that they sell or third-party ones that they've already made money out of.

I urge people not to buy any phone at launch. Prices are deliberately over inflated at launch. Wait for a few months and then buy. That way you can prevent phone companies from ripping you off to some extent.

yet another reason why Apple is a shitty company despite making a decent ecosystem of products. they might be following the law, but they'll sure as hell still go out of their way to limit basic functionality for no reason so they can get more of your money or get a commission from another company's wallet. I can't remember the last time dodgy cables were actually a problem

What else is apple not gonna limit? I see the anti consumer principle is going strong with this one particular brand. SMH.

So typical of Apple. Just complied with the shape of the port for the new laws but it will basically have no USB-C standard compatibility other than charging! Basically no USB-C iPad like functionality.

At this point, if you still keep buying an iPhone, you rights to complain should get revoked 😂
You are paying to get fked.

that wouldn't surprise me, even though apples other usb-c devices do not limit usage, they don't sell anywhere near the same numbers combined as iPhones annually, lets face it, they are potentially in the final year of Lightning port, and with it a revenue stream, so they will need to somehow replace that stream from usb-c instead

I wouldn't be surprised, and guess what, this would go so nicely against whole "eco-friendly" lies Apple spews 24/7

Imagine not having a proper USB for a phone priced thousand of dollar. Like, how much the proper USB will cost them.

When the controlling wants to keep control... You may have paid for the phone, but Apple still own it...
