Re... moreThe article says the build of materials is more expensive and labour costs have gone up with inflation so obviously production costs will have increased. The price has remained the same in the US. In Europe it has increased but that is mainly due to currency swings. Apple operates in US$ and the Euro depreciated against the dollar significantly since last year. Basically, all these companies start with a net profit margin they want to achieve and determine their prices based on this. Apple's net profit margin was 24.56% last year which is pretty high. Probably they are similar to maintain a similar profit margin this year for their shareholders. Flagships from all brands have a high profit margin but so far only Apple, Samsung and Huawei (in the past) have managed to have high sales in this segment. With Huawei out of the picture, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo are fighting hard to try to be the next Huawei as that is where the money is and they all want to make as much profit as possible.

That's why mediocre products are sold are at high price and they buy them.

Yeah there's research, logistics, marketing, design etc but don't forget to dilute that money for all the millions of iPhones sold. How much those millions are gonna impact the price of ONE single iphone unit? 50? maybe 100? Not much more than that. The point is, Apple is making a ton of profit in every single unit of iphone sold, only apple fans don't want to see it. But is there anything wrong in making profit? of course not but don't deny it. Otherwise they wouldn't be making billions every year...

Or do you think Apple just say ‘oh look it’s time for a new iPhone’ and simply throw some money into the air and a bunch of materials magically come along and assemble themselves into new iPhones, then flocks of storks show up to swoop them all off to stores all over the world????
