I've known this for a long time, but there are so many stupid people out there arguing without knowing anything. I even laughed when whatsapp released a feature that allows multi-device login, many people said this feature has been around for a long time in telegram, when this is completely different. I'm not a fan of whatsapp or anything else, everything still has flaws to be perfect.

Telegram is spreading fake news.
Any whatsapps user could encrypt their chat backups (by choice) in Google Drive. Only user who knows the backup password could access the backup data.

As long as the message sender and receiver could keep the phone safe, the WA chat is also safe.

Even the backup files are encrypted with a large passkey that if you misplace it, boom those messages are gone forever. It's risky but it's much more private than both of these services.
The only problem with Signal is, with removing SMS, they are lacking majorly with features. It was only recently that they announced scheduling messages being in the works with usernames finally coming as late as June of this year. Once those two are implemented, all they need is iOS file backup the way the Android version has it, QR code (with passkey) to simplify transferring data/backup to new devices; no matter the OS, Apple Watch/Wear OS app, and the ability to delay messages sending to be perfect in my eyes.
