I will appreciate more if someone makes a new flagship phone with removable batteries.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2023As long as you don't let them sit for an extended peri... moreIn a lot (most, all) of device battery management systems, they report 0% much sooner than the actual real 0% capacity is reached, some as much as 10 or even 20 percent before the real 0%. This is set to protect the battery from being fully drained, and possibly causing the battery permanent damage... So the way I have been treating my rechargeable devices batteries over the decades has no potential to cause them any damage, and is why I have not experienced any ill effects, as long as the battery management systems keep doing their job...

So far so good.
Would be nice to see if the manage to make same size battery but with double the capacity.

While increase in density is nice to see, I'd very much prefer batteries that just don't degrade with charging. Or have it so low that after 5 years of any kind of charging, even super fast one, you wouldn't notice the difference. That would be super cool and helpful given how batteries are permanently glued inside 99% of phones. I don't care if phone needs to be charged more often if it can be done quickly and without degradation. Opposed to what we have now that more you charge it and the faster you do it, the more battery degrades.
Oppo bragged about battery enhancements, Xiaomi did too, now Honor. But we haven't really seen any noticeable shift in battery tech which hasn't really fundamentally changed for last 15+ years.

Trooper, 27 Feb 2023"How often do you let your phone dip below 12%?" ... moreAs long as you don't let them sit for an extended period at those lower voltages, you will minimize the risks to battery health. I only run them down past 20% when they need a recalibration. Luckily many BMS won't allow capacity to reach 0, leaving some margin while reporting as empty.

Trooper, 27 Feb 2023That was probably back when phones were much smaller, had h... moreThats not really what i meant. What i was saying is that older batteries with lower capacities are of similar size to newer batteries with higher capacities. for example, the battery from the galaxy note 3, and from the s23 ultra have relatively the same footprint, however the s23 ultra's battery is 5,000mAh while the note 3's battery is only around 3,200mAh
