In fact the A14/A34/A54 phones from this year look like Velvet 2 Pro ripoffs lol 😂

They had the Velvet 2 Pro and the LG Rollable up their alley, which were powered by the flagship SoC for 2021, the Snapdragon 888. In my opinion, these phones would have been great alternatives to the S21 Ultra and the Z Fold 3 respectively, despite their exorbitant prices.

I definitely do agree with your point about the Velvet 2 Pro having a neat and timeless design. Heck, Samsung used (or

The G5 gave good competition to the Galaxy S7 series, but they made a strong yet wrong bet on the "Friends" modules. Also, the usual LG issues like marketing and availability couldn't unleash the full potential of the G5.

While it's sad that LG no longer makes smartphones, their last high end device, the Wing, is one hell of a phone. In fact, am typing this comment from the Wing. Miss you LG.

The G5 came out in the same year as the Apple iPhone 7, two different smartphones with a completely different direction for the dual camera setup. Apple went for the wide+telephoto combo, while LG went for a wide+ultrawide combo. Nevertheless, they both triggered the next step of the smartphone camera hardware race.

As for the G5's Magic Slot, one major critical problem with it is that you have to turn off the phone to replace the Friends accessories. No surprise that Motorola went for a dedicated pogo pin solution for their Moto Mods. Even Juan Bagnell agreed that Motorola's detachable solution was far more practical and friendlier than LG's cumbersome switch-off-first solution, and he's a real LG fan firsthand.

Today Samsung is using on S series a LG Velevet design of cameras. LG was just ahead of everybody at least 4 years, even ahead of their own software.

The exact phone that made me love LG and start continuously using LG phones till now (using newer models now of course). That ultrawide is really a game changer!

My G5 is still here, started becoming practically unusable only since last month.

Sony, Meizu, Asus and even Htc still sell phones. While LG does not.

Ppl here need to stop thinking number of units sold translats to money earned.
Single $1200 phone sold can bring more money than few $300 phones sold if the OEM does everything right.

One of the best camera phone of all time, innovative yet flawed so is every phone even the best ones. Sad to see LG quit making awesome phones.
The camera setup on G5 was alot better then S7.

still, a really nice phone. I didn't buy or change the slots, lol

LG had some cool ideas that weren't executed very well
Plus their bootlooping issues were terrible
My first LG phone was the F60, an entry level phone and one of my first ever Android phones i got when i was a kid - bootlooped after a year
Got a second hand model for replacement parts - bootlooped after a couple of months
Got the G4 Stylus - bootlooped after like half a year
At this point i was officially done with LG

Whereas the Samsung competitor was available EVERYWHERE in that same period of time
