I wanna buy Oneplus 11R but sadly it's not available in my country. The only option for me is Xiaomi 12T Pro which is only available in very few stores.

That is one of the big reasons I buy only Samsung and iPhones when going for a second hand phone. I will never buy any of the Chinese phones in second hand. Usually people selling Chinese phones (especially after just couple of months), sell them because they have issues/problems with the phones.
When people sell a Samsung or an iPhone, usually they just want to upgrade to the newer model and many times the older phone is still supported for another 2-3 years.

Is funny actually, in the past when people used to keep their phones for longer time, companies had shorter software updates. Nowadays, when people tend to change their phones more frequently, companies are increasing the software support. Lol.
As for your S21 Ultra, is strange that you don't like it, I think is one of the best Samsung models in recent years. Maybe you got a defective unit or maybe you don't like OneUi.

Honestly I only trust samsung as of now in terms of 4 years of major updates as they are delivering what they said...Oneplus?? I don't think so...they haven't even fixed silly issues like jitter and lags in Oneplus 11...regretting buying this 😬

They don't even provide esim on Indian version

As if those major Android updates will be great updates but full of OnePlus bugs

                Planned obsolescence imo...

                Playing a dengerous game...

Trust lost is NEVER regained 🤞

Do people still buy OnePlus phones?

Just because they are going to give 4 OS updates and 5 years of security patches doesn't mean the OS updates will come fast and security patches monthly.

It is to for Samsung to increase their software support up to 6 years and 5 main version.

If it happened once, it can happen again.

Honestly tho, it's all in how they respond. OnePlus basically didn't even acknowledge the problem. That's not trust inducing. If they had acknowledged it and offered some sort of solution, I'd have more trust.

The... moreI guess you have a point, but I wouldn't hold on to an issue with a Oneplus phone that is 4-5 years old and allow it to keep me from withholding trust that they'll be able to update their 2023 phones to Android 17.

Even tho smartphones have been pretty stale for the last couple of years with minimal upgrades, i'm glad they're atleast focusing on software updates
At one point, flagships used to only get 2 Android updates, sometimes even 1 to the less fortunate brands while the mid range and entry level sections were left completely ignored and most of the phones didn't receive a single update
This hurt the phones longevity especially on the used market because not everyone is willing to buy your unsupported phone
2 years is about how long i keep my phones so my S8 would have already been outdated even if i bought it on release, which isn't gonna be the case when i eventually replace my S22 plus

So no, I don't think they will provide good software updates like the comment you're responding to said.

who lasts more than 1 year at most 2 with a phone hahaha I've been with a disgusting s21 ultra for a few months and I'm almost going to throw it away

Apple literally supports all their devices for 5+ years and I don't see anybody complain. And Motorola is not really a good comparison because their share in the market is small and they're not really a good company, while Oneplus is owned by BBK who also owns top brands like Oppo, Vivo, and Realme so you can be rest assured that they're going to keep their promises.

It'll prob receive Android 16-17 at least 6 months behind the other OP devices. Still nice to hear from a company that's known to have terrible software support... 🫢

How many people will keep their OnePlus phones until Android 17 though? To test this theory.
Motorola also said a lot of things, that they will do bi-monthly security updates, when in fact they have security updates once per 3-4 months (for their new mid-range models).
Bottom line with these Chinese representatives, one is what they say, other is what they actually achieve or do.
Also, longer software support, doesn't necessarily equals good software support. But, probably future owners of OnePlus 11 will test this out on their own skins.
