Weekly poll: Samsung Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34, fan favorites or a missed opportunity?

19 March 2023
The Galaxy A52s is still getting praise, even after the A53 has been around for a while. Can the A54 get the same love from fans?

A52 best 3.5mm jack remove don't buy a54

Phantom Ensemble, 19 Mar 2023Why assume that Exynos 1380 is bad when it's barely ju... moreI can understand where you are coming from but the hate the 1380 gets stems from the the lackluster track record of recent Exynos chips.

In gaming for example, the Exynos 1280 literally lags on low settings compared to something like a Dimensity 920 which can sustain smooth 50-60fps on the same settings and situation(both uses nearly the same core config), the Samsung node is most likely to blame and this new Exynos 1380 will use the same node, so you can expect the 1380 to pretty much be crushed in efficiency, stability, throttling and maybe even performance by the A52s' SD778G which is 2generations old at this point lol.

Trying to save money by using Exynos doesnt even seem like a valid excuse when Mediatek can provide amazing chips in the same price segment. For example, the Oneplus Ace/10R, Realme GTNeo3 has 120Hz OLED, OIS main cam, even faster charging AND it has a Dimensity 8100-Max processor which is an absolute efficiency and performance monster in midrange (800K+ Antutu) for the same price at launch (480USD).

Samsung could have easily used a Dimensity 8100 in A54 (the A34 already uses a Dimensity chip) and it would be selling like hotcakes lol. The only reason they used Exynos is because they dont want to waste their investment in the processor division even if the soc product is inferior.

Phantom Ensemble, 19 Mar 2023Why assume that Exynos 1380 is bad when it's barely ju... moreBut they already overpriced their phones, so yet, the fact that chipset costs money is exactly why it's unacceptable to rice prices and downgrade chipset (And 3.5mm jack. And screen. And telephoto. And charger).

UltraHD, 18 Mar 2023For me personally, A54 is more than enough and i had Galaxy... moreDunno why people are X reacting your comment but I'd say go for it, price is ehhh but I'm sure you'll love it.

Cod, 18 Mar 2023Even galaxy note 3 can record 4k 30fps video, 9 years later... moreWhy assume that Exynos 1380 is bad when it's barely just released? This phone is barely releasing and people are already hating on it's chipset, yes Snapdragon wouldn've been the better option for this price but keep in mind chipsets cost money, it costs even more money to buy in bulk.

We've yet to see more stress test/gaming test videos come out on these phones, so I might change my mind.

As a current A52s user, I don't see any reason to upgrade(?) to A54. Hopefully my A52s will at least last a couple more years and let's see whether Samsung has better stuff to offer.

Not for me. No 3.5mm jack, small screens and huge prices. Nothing comes close to my current A72 (Which also has Telephoto), which will be my last Samsung phone if they don't wise up.

If looking for more compact alternatives, the pixel 7 and 6a are a no-brainer this year.

                      Noooooo..!

The biggest pros are the ip67 and the promised 5 years of updates. And of course that the main camera has OIS. For me, I only make use of the main camera. I am tired to change phones because of the stopped updates. ip67, it's nice to know that I can make a phone call in heavy rain (if the screen is dry🤪🤷)

How long they are going to missplace fingerprint sensor under display?
IDK what reptiloides find it comfortable! I have very odd feeling trying to place my thumb on the display to find fingerprint unlock there! Especially with the bigger phone.
What's wrong with the sensor on the side under the unlock/power button? IMHO, the most convenient location.
Sensor on the back of the phone is also Ok.
This under display sensor trend is a complete disaster. Stopped buying any high end phones because all of them have this bullshit!

In my region, the s22 released for about $900 and today, more than a year later, it has only dropped to about $700 and that's only from an online store that doesn't provide official receipt. The S23 released for a little under $1000 so it would probably only drop by about $200 after a year too.
