Lg got attacked for having 821 on G6 ($700) but huawei gets free pass for 8+g1 on $1600 phone that would cost €2000 in EU.

Zuzuz, 23 Mar 2023Bigger doesn't mean better. Why they use that bigger s... moreLight gathering is not just size and aperture.
Photo diode types, diameter of aperture, what software is set to do.
Yellow filter does not increase sensitivity more than 15-20%. If it is 1/1.4" , may not even match RGGB of 1/1.2".
Do not forget. Vivo and Oppo have 1 glass element, huawei does not.

I get it if my opinion wasn't personal like commenting bad stuff for a phone that's not bad at all, they're just mad that someone don't like this lol.

Zuzuz, 23 Mar 2023Bigger doesn't mean better. Why they use that bigger s... moreThere is literally no difference in DOF between f2 or f1,6 with these tiny sensors. And in that case bigger is always better due to larger pixels.

Lccy, 23 Mar 2023Lots of people had concerns about only 8gb ram before it wa... more8gb is completely fine, android doesnt use ram the same as a windows pc or an apple product (harmonyos is still using android for its base).
On a basic level of what its doing basically android leaves all data and apps you are running/recently ran in the ram so whenever you need to access it again it can instantly pre load it. Say your ram usage is at 7.8gb and you're about to open a new app and push it past 8gb,the phone will just finally end any unused data still sitting in the ram (say you used youtube 3 days ago and closed the app) and free up the space for whatever app, no matter the ram usage.
Apple is very strict with their OS so it essentially just clears all data as much as it can whenever it can.
Ive got around 170 apps on my phone with about 6-6.40gb used up (about 3gb is just pre cashed data still) so i know even if i need a lot of ram for an intensive app, ive got plenty spare (also most phones let you use virtual ram from the fast, direct storage, my phone has 8gb+8gb virtual ram).
Use as much ram up as you can, apps will load faster and perform better.

Zuzuz, 23 Mar 2023What actually are you doing that an 8.1+ can't handle?! Nothing, I don't even game so the this chip would be fine for me but I think some will mind because they will have to pay a premium for it. The 8 gen 2 seems to be quite a bit more efficient for battery life as well

Sorry to say but that is an ugly looking phone. Huawei wont win new customers that way.

Smartphones should use below four lenses and should use inbuilt nd filter like nokia did in older phones (they should make newer tech now)
And aperutres should be as large as possible and should develop somekind of folded optics.
16mm (ultrawide for landscapes)
35mm (main camera)
85mm (portraits)
200mm (telephoto or wildlife)
And at last should be the use of AI on top of that to enhance the image/video.
But major manufacturers are saving money by using not so good hardware and only relying on software like pixel phones (as per them why use a camera just ask stable diffusion ai to create an image).
On the contrary huawei, oppo, vivo etc are doing good job in terms of hardware and also catching up with software.

rizki1, 23 Mar 2023which one is good? 1 inch sensor or variable aperture? It s... moreBigger doesn't mean better. Why they use that bigger sensors? For gathering light. But they have an aperture around f2 because the back bump would be much bigger in case that the aperture goes toward f1.6 let's say. Also dof will be much smaller which will make things worse(ex: in a portrait you have the nose in focus while the ears or hair is lost in the background).
Huawei has the perfect solution: a variable aperture on a sufficient sized sensor, which can give you enough light comparable to any other 1" sensor, while maintaining dof. Also you can influence those 2 variables with this: dof and light admission.
Anyway, let's see the reviews to see if they succeed. Mate 50 pro was very good
