The camera you're looking for is an A7C. Might not be 61MP but I really don't see the need to crop that far when any sort of bloom, noise or lens artifacts become more obvious. Otherwise I see no reason for you to look at the ZV lineup when it's very much not aimed for taking photos. If you wanted the 61MP in a small body then its the Sigma fp L.

Qimchi, 30 Mar 2023You know nothing about cameras. Here I'll teach you. A... moreLol, to be clear, I want a camera for stills, resolution matters if you crop, which is nothing new in this digital age.
Having more detail is always more welcome than having less, if drawbacks are small.
My point was having that AI and size with sensor of bulky A7RV.
This being vlogging camera is of course, obvious, no vlogging in my comment tho, why so much care... I never cared about vlogging not to mention 8K one, my talk was all about stills. If someone wants so much my idea about it, here is it:
Why not use a phone. Considering its about resolution, it should be easier to do on the phone with its big touch screen also considering how pricy it can get and all downsides for which they won't even release it. Useless, I agree.

mawlki, 30 Mar 2023It's still a big minus for that occasional still phot... more12MP for photo is good enough for most people (through Social media in general). Unless of course, they're printing a billboard or really anything above 11x17" and you also have to consider whether a soft image is done on purpose with it's focus or physical filters to make something look dreamy and if a higher resolution photo would benefit from that in the end result from the viewers perspective (if a billboard was low resolution, would anyone care or notice if they're standing too far or driving past it at legal speeds anyway?). If people want a hybrid camera the A7C is a similar camera with a higher res sensor. If people wanted to compare the 2 it's essentially the A7iii vs the A7Siii in terms of image quality. There's a time and place for high MP sensor for photos but more often than not the viewer isn't going to notice a thing unless they try and crop in on a full res image.

Anonymous, 30 Mar 2023Keeping camera bit away from you can handle that. No need... moreThis camera is already fairly expensive for what it offers to begin with (It's not a hybrid camera, so it's completely impractical to use it for photography anyway). The F4 16-35mm costs more and so what, being able to buy that as a bundle would've been still miles better than having a useless lens that is not built for the camera's purpose.

Anonymous, 30 Mar 2023A7c is based on A7, not a7r series. I was merely responding to what vrvly said.

At this FL, this lens can n... moreMy suggestion was that they should stop pairing a garbage kit lens that isn't suited for vlogging at all just for the sake of claiming "Our camera is really inexpensive if you buy this body + lens combo". This is the same kit lens they sell with a7C, but that doesn't mean it's useful for this camera too just because the form factor alone is similar between the two.

"Also, this camera is meant to be on tripod, not selfie stick"
What are you talking about? It's for VLOGGING. Yes, you can mount it on a mini tripod to record yourself, but obviously it is also expected to be held at the end of the selfie stick too and that's the entire reason why it's so lightweight, genius.

              Let's be honest.
I never properly understood why the A7S III was so expensive anyways, how does it justify being almost 50% more expensive than the other models?
Yes, its better in video, but its far worse in photography details too, just 12 megapixels, how can we ignore that?

With hardly any Amazon reviews, I'm guessing A7S3 was a failure so Sony thought maybe, launch the same model as new, instead of reducing price of A7S3?

Qimchi, 30 Mar 2023That's not the point. The point is you don't need... moreIt's still a big minus for that occasional still photo when looking at the fact that entry level Full Frame cameras have ~26MP sensors for +6 years now. Yea these older sensors might not have the 'fantastic' low light abilities of this new 12 MP Sony sensor, but here it comes: that's not why people get a video centric photo camera.. they buy it for video (and not disputing this one is awesomecat that) but it sucks at photo resolution. Horses for courses, but 12 MP photo. Sounds like 2008.

SigmaR, 30 Mar 2023No, not really unnecessary. Cameras with 8k recording can o... moreThat's not the point. The point is you don't need high MP on a video camera especially in the ZV lineup. Yes you can get downsampled 4K to make it look better, but at 12MP you're already getting that without the disadvantage of rolling shutter and the 4K already looks really sharp and if isn't then the screen is too close. There's probably a video somewhere that shows how much of a difference 4K vs Downsampled 4K makes without telling which is which without it being the main topic so viewers view it as is without pixel peeping an inch away from their monitor to prove a point through a YouTube compressed 4K video. The ZV-E1 has clear image zoom and unlike any other previous Sony cameras, doesn't limit the autofocus or stabilization options.

Unless of course you wanna pay more than $4000 for a Stacked Backside-Illuminated sensor to vlog without bad rolling shutter on a high MP sensor... the Sony A1 with the same amount of Clear image zoom 1.5x.

Anonymous, 30 Mar 2023You do not want to be out of proportion on the footage. Tell that to GoPro, Insta360. One of a few camera purpose for vlogging.

Look, its good that u can use the 28-60mm cheap kit lens for some portraits, streets & landscape. Its a FF camera anyway. But when it comes with a 'vlogging' naming, plain funny.

That price though. This is why I don't make Youtube videos about all the phones and electronics I buy. I might give Continuity Camera a go soon though.

Also, this camera is meant to be on tripod, not selfie stick. 1m is more than enough to frame whole person with 28mm lens. No need for 16, 18 or 20mm.
Since 28-60 is zoom lens, you can set 35mm as well.

One of the main features of a vlogging camera is the image stabilization which is kind of unusable and the price is atrocious for what it offers!

They could use their own remosaicing algorithm to create 48mp Bayer data, but it may not be good considering the pixels are big and there would be overlapping colour data .
