Super Android 22, 31 Mar 2023Couldnt apple just use gestures for these inputs (so flash ... moreGestures are silly things.

Couldnt apple just use gestures for these inputs (so flash light, mute, power saving mode etc). Im guessing solid state buttons will make the phone more water proof and durable but again gestures can fix these issues (my phone you can draw a V on the screen and it turns the flash light on, i can also set power saving mode to turn on at any battery percentage).

As long as it doesnt massively increase the price and it actually makes usability easier and more efficient otherwise it seems like creating extra steps and increasing price for something that's not really a problem.

Anonymous, 31 Mar 2023How will you turn the phone on if it's off with solid ... moreTechnically the device will be designed to be always on but it will behave as if it is turned off.

And in case of complete power drain, the moment you connect to a power source it is by default powered on but for users it will behave as if it is in shutdown state 😁😁😁

If all enery sources are exhausted then how the low power chip will get the power? From the surrounding radio waves of cellular towers? Or will it generate from the physical movement of the phone? Also haptic engine will require more power, where will it get that from?

And for reliable tracking of a lost phone Bluetooth beacon is not enough, they need to enable sending location to Apple servers periodically over satellite so that the phone will keep sending it's location no matter what, even when the device is off. The phone might not lock on to the satellite in every attempt when lost, but it will require only one shot to give the last known location.

It will also be good if there's a setting for users to disable the use of their phone parts to be used in other devices and not just showing this battery is not genuine/verified, so that the part knows the device id it should work with and phone is also aware which parts it should accept. Only then the lost phone will be off no use and it will be better to return to the true user or face legal action if kept with you. Just like a military comms equipment.

sorry but this makes no sense. i am pretty sure this is apple doing stuff just because they can and they can get away with it even when the idea itself is horrible and it becomes ''normal'' in the future

Get ready... all Android manufacturers will copy this from 2025

How will you turn the phone on if it's off with solid state button? Because nothing will physically move to complete a circuit to supply current to motherboard.
Which means they'll prevent you from turning the phone off. Wake up and drop a missile on apple headquarters and save your future.

I'm very sure some random Android manufacturer will release a phone with solid state volume buttons before Apple just for the bragging rights (although it is already partially done with the power button).

Now finally Apple will switch to solid state buttons as there is no scope for innovation inside the Apple ecosystem. They are busy milking profits and ignoring the demands of their userbase

                          Is this there selling point?

Why turn simple button function into complicated shit using microprocessor chip?
