Another beautiful write-up by Prasad. The Debbie Downers should get some tact to remedy any valid criticisms they have.

Most IEM reviews are highly subjective and opinion-based, however it really helps if they are very specific and precise with their wording.

For example, "the lows on [insert IEM here] are more on the flat dryish side. Sub-bass has more presence than mid-bass, with a fast attack. There is plenty of rumble but very little texture resolved, making bass notes sound deep but thin..." gives the reader plenty of information even without a FR graph.

Anonymous, 23 Apr 2023Please don't review earphones if you CAN'T and ke... moreTo be fair I think they did a quite decent job with the review. Not as great as some of the high-profile reviewers on YouTube or head-fi, but they covered many of the important aspects, including the technicalities.

There are actually very few sites that provide incredibly dense measurement data (e.g. rtings). Most review sites focus on subjective observations and qualities, and use a tier rating system to sort through which IEMs are good, exceptional, or bad. At the very most they will provide a two-dimensional FR graph.

Similar to wine-tasting, the more wine (IEMs) you taste (hear), the better you are at reviewing them. Therefore seasoned reviewers have better judgement. However as I said, at the end of the day these judgements are still subjective and based on individual preferences, you would have to try them yourself to really make a decision on whether to buy them.

In order to find a reliable IEM reviewer you'd have to find a relatively seasoned IEM reviewer with identical sound preferences as you.

sennheiser has chinese audio manufacturers to compete with nowadays, not easy challenge as chinese audio manufacturers are currently forefront in best for most price brackets while adding innovation and improvements, brands such as Dunu, Moondrop, 7htz and Truthears

prasad-gsma, 23 Apr 2023I don't think some of you realize how incredibly expen... moreI actually remember seeing a basic IEM FR measuring rig for around $113 on Aliexpress. The IEC711 if I recall correctly.

It doesn't have to be perfect or professional. Lots of IEM reviewers in the head-fi community use these rigs to measure FR curves.

Interesting. So it's the classic Etymotic sound at an entry-level price.

Wonder how it compares to the ER2XR.

will i be able to get this earphones in INDIA

To be honest - headphones review without amplitude-frequency response chart is really pointless.

"This produces a more bass-heavy sound."
This just doesn't tell anything. What kind of bass? 20-40 Hz, 40-80 Hz, 80-200 Hz? I can hear it all around, when people using cheap $5 headphones saying - i got cool headphone and hefty bass. But in reality all they hear is loud 150 Hz noise with nothing below, with no any details. Same applies to other ranges. Surely IE 200 is not $5 headphones, but that's just shows that without frequency response chart review is just an opinion, based on personal taste.

They had headphone reviews here saying VERY bass heavy headphones are good, a simple graph would've warned people..

Codedslam, 23 Apr 2023Really, Is The Headphone Jack Coming Back? The headphone jack hasn't gone anywhere, it's just stupid marketing for flagship devices to delete it

Eric20, 23 Apr 2023The author got it all confused. Almost all headphones and I... moreIf you are referring to a general concept of tuning for a curve produced in a reflective room then maybe you could argue most headphones are tuned for diffuse field, since it was found to be superior to free field. However, very few actual headphones and IEMs follow the precise DF curve, as usually there are adjustments made across the frequency range for a more pleasing tone. This is also why the Harman target is more popular, since it is based on neither FF nor DF but a more realistic room target with user preference factored in.

Also, Sennheiser itself advertises the IE 200 as diffuse field tuned on their website. https://www.sennheiser-hearing.com/en-IN/p/ie-200/

Anonymous, 23 Apr 2023Please don't review earphones if you CAN'T and ke... moreI don't think some of you realize how incredibly expensive it is to objectively measure headphones. The industry standard Brüel & Kjær 5128 HATS alone costs upwards of $40,000, and that is just one part of the chain of things required to properly measure headphones to established standards. Only a handful of media outlets outside of actual manufacturers use these rigs because of their cost and most of them exclusively review audio. It makes very little sense for us to invest the money in something that is not the primary focus of the site.

Tigolebitties, 23 Apr 2023Yup, they mentioned it in the review.though i did not read the whole article.. i can tell by its logo on the back, and the coloros-ish navigation bar, and the green color. at first i thought they used realme c35..
