KondriX, 18 May 2023A lot of childish comments here. Do you realize that this i... moreWell, you have to understand the commenters' POVs before labelling them as childish. If the phone is already this expensive in its home market Taiwan, then it would surely cost more in other markets. HTC cant just rely on their past glory to sell phones, especially with them clearly trailing behind in software support and aftersales at the moment.

If this thing has desktop mode it would be interesting.
The cost is not that insane (USD 550). But they should rename it as U23. And use the Pro for the S7+ Gen 2 or even the S8+ Gen1.
That chip (S7 Gen1) is really weak and is a very bad desicion by today standards. Is on par with Exynos 1380 which is also underwhelming (they have the Exynos 1080 which is on par with the 865 and they didn't released it? COME ON SAMSUNG!)
I can see it being cost less than 300 dollars and becomes finally attractive.

is HTC Back? I'm not sure.
The HTC U23 Pro seems really generic, but nice in my opinion, one slight issue is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 (it uses samsung's fab, which makes it inferior) but hey! they can do whatever they want, I don't own them.

Honestly I see nothing wrong with this phone, except the battery could be higher and the price a little lower, but otherwise it looks good to me. Some people are really nitpicking over nothing in my opinion. I hope GSMArena will review this phone to clarify the things (but most likely not because of the availability).

Mr. Anonymous, 18 May 2023Is there such a thing as "Taiwanese language"?Yes. It is also known as Taiwanese Hokkien. It is spoken more by the older generation. Mandarin is still more widely spoken than Taiwanese

KondriX, 18 May 2023A lot of childish comments here. Do you realize that this i... moreAlthough I do agree that there's a lot of childish comments here, I believe the majority of them stem from the fact that many remember how great HTC used to be, and that this just doesn't feel like the comeback we would all like to see from them.
Yes, this phone has good overall specs, maybe a couple of things that could have been better, but there's just no wow factor coming from it, no real USP that could make people get interested or talking about it, even if it were just a gimmick, like Nothing's Glyph lighting. I wouldn't risk having to deal with an OK-to-mediocre camera system, average screen quality, poorly optimised system or else without having at least something really interesting to look forward to, because 'good enough specs' are not enough in themselves to justify a purchase when there's so much more to a phone than its specs, especially at the price point that HTC is setting, and I'm sure many more people wouldn't risk it either.
And sure, this is the pricing for Taiwan, but we cannot really expect prices elsewhere to be lower than this, seeing how things are and have been lately. If anything, it'd probably be priced even higher in Europe and/or the US if it were to land on those markets, which would make it an even tougher sale than it already is.

This also has wireless charging and an IP rating on top of those feature so it stands out even more as a good midrange deal at that price. But we all know these commenters only like to complain and won't vote with their wallet.

A lot of childish comments here. Do you realize that this is the price for Taiwan? I'm pretty sure that if it would be released in Europe, it would have a different price. And you're not force to buy it? And Snapdragon 7Gen 1 is more than enough for 99.9% of tasks, unless you're a gamer which wants everything on Ultra settings with 120Hz and fps all the time, but this phone is not for you. At least they implemented the 3.5mm jack and the microSD slot, kudos to them, I wouldn't buy a phone without these two features. The battery could be a bit higher though, at least 5000 mAh but anyway I really hope HTC will be back on track, they really rocked the mobile phone scene a while back!

Flagship features AND expandable storage (mSD)? Finally, I can upgrade from my Galaxy S10+ (of all the latest Samsung phones, only the S20 has expandable mem, and it's already obsolete). The specs on this new HTC are competitive with the market leaders and the expandable storage makes puts it ahead, making it one of the very few true "upgrades" in the market. I'll be waiting for this one (goodbye Sam, Pixel and LG-- you blew it dumping the expandable storage).

IQ200, 18 May 2023That's called profit. And it's minimum by the way... moreI'm not sure where you read i'm looking for a new phone or considering buying this, i love tech and i'll comment on anything that catches my eyes. HTC is long dead in my country, nobody uses it except maybe older people and nobody is even selling them anyways. 510€ is too much, 400€ would be okayish. Why would anyone buy this when they can simply get last years flagship for the same price and even longer software support? It makes 0 sense, but yeah this device has some key features such as 3mm jack since everyone was crying for that part than others so it might be worth for some people.
The rest is pretty average, 108+8+5+2 (at least the main one has OIS), no 4k on the front, no stereo speakers, not a really great chipset and no UD fingerprint sensor (optional, someone prefers the side one).

AngryLithuanian, 18 May 2023People crying for 3.5mm jack and microSD. HTC gives exactl... moreYes, i though people would be positive but they always gotta find something to cry, like the SD8 Gen 1 being used. Is a flagship chipset, would they rather have a midrange one so the price is lower then?

HTC true to themselves! They can't resist putting a thicker black band at the bottom of the screen... And some still wonder why this ridiculous mark has almost disappeared...

Good to see that HTC is back. The next iteration should have a Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 with Only 2 x 50MP sensors (ultrawide and 3x Zoom) with bright lenses.
