LG quit despite selling over 30 million phones/tablets per year.

I may be wrong, but they would have the cheapest phone with that chipset if they do it. Meaning their profit margin would be practically 0. And for the market share they have it would mean suicide

HTC is doing this as a place-holder for their failing and limping VR sales.

Phone itself is not bad: it has 12GB RAM, sdcard slot, 3.5mm headphone jack. Those are starting to get rare in the "me too" phone designs that BBK/Xiaomi/Samsung specialize in.

The bad points: Snap 7Gen1 is just bad (perf/power draw) and that battery capacity doesn't help it. And the price just isn't competitive.

Upgrade SoC to Snap 7Gen2, increase battery to 5000 mAh and lower the price.

Then make it available in different markets. Then you'll have sales.

AlexPP, 18 May 2023Good luck There's a tech store in my country (Venezuela, South America) offering the Poco F5 Pro, which has way better specs than this U23 Pro, for the exact same price HTC is asking for it.

I guess it's not a matter of luck, then...

KondriX, 18 May 2023If I remember correctly HTC is also from Taiwan so I guess ... moreI personally find it too pricey for its specs and too generic for it to attract any significant number of buyers. But I agree, I'd love to see a good GSMArena review so we can all settle this debate for good.

Nice to see midrangers now get 256 GB, when it was only 64 GB not so long ago...and with memory card and 3.5mm audio jack, seems perfect for me. Samsung with 128 GB in its 1000 dollars S23 is a shame. But the bezel is too thick, Oppo Reno 10 looks much better.

Honestly, the price is good. First time I see HTC actually nailing that

Anonymous, 18 May 2023Akmost 100 euros cheaper than lame redmi note 12 pro+ ? That phone being really, really overpriced doesn't mean this one isn't still overpriced. €530 is too much for Snap 7 Gen 1, only 30W charging and no telephoto camera. If it was €379 it would be a great offering

Anonymous, 18 May 2023Why is there something always wrong with a phone? In this o... morePeople who already have a phone that covers all their needs are less likely to want to spend money on a new one. So manufacturers offer BS ones hoping people will buy new ones more regularly.

But as the continuously declining smartphone sales show, what's actually happening is people are just keep their old phones for even longer.

Realistically if you bought a phone between 2018 and 2021 it's probably better than the newer phones in the same series. Ie Samsung A52s is better than A53 and A54. Redmi Note 10 Pro is better than Redmi Note 11 Pro (Helio G96 one) etc
