Canon looking to partner with a smartphone manufacturer

During the early days of iPhone, my digital camera of choice was a Canon PowerShot SD1100. The blue one. I was lucky to get it on sale for $150 and it was the last one left at Target. Served me well when I went to Japan in 2009. But once smartphone photography got better and better, I rarely used it after 2011 and sold it by 2013.
I do hope Japanese brands like Canon and Nikon do find business partners in the mobile industry. It's kinda sad watching all these Japanese companies like them fade into obscurity like Kyocera did. There was a time in the 80s and 90s when Japanese tech was state-of-the-art. Now nobody cares about Japanese products except maybe in automobiles.

For years, I actually preferred Panasonic more than Sony. More durable. My holy trinity of Japanese electronics was Sony-Panasonic-Toshiba. In video games, Sony-Sega-Nintendo. And Toto makes the best toilets in the world.
The days of 80s and 90s gadgets from Japan are long gone. South Korea copied Japan and took over. Then China. Luster getting the coolest gadgets from Akihabara isn't as exciting as it used to be like 20-30 years ago.

you have to suffer, 20 May 2023infinix would be a good partner. especially for future zero... moreAsus doesn't have large popularity among Chinese rival, They known for their ROG phone, even ZenFone 11 have canon lense, their sale still not enough to cover development cost. Their marketing also not to much touch the camera prowess. Hence the only sensible partner for canon maybe techno since there are many article published about their camera tech or maybe Honor. Huawei already have XMage, I don't think so Huawei will take another risk

Ah yes. Smartphone partnering. Vivo with Zeiss, Xiaomi with Leica, Oppo and Oneplus with Haselblad and Sony with Sony. Who will Canon join? Asus, Realme, Honor, iQoo or Motorola. Don't think big boys like Samsung, Google and ofc Apple would join in on this.

Even if these manufacturers ever make a smartphone camera that behaves almost exactly like a real professional digital camera, just like Xperias, people will always choose the fake and overprocessed look of other smartphones instead of actually knowing how an image should look like in reality.

Really? Who wrote this article? He has no idea Sony is biggest competitor of cannon in camera division. Sony already doing Collab with own alpha cameras. Zeiss isn't camera brand it's lens company.
