The Mark 5 series brings important camera upgrades, but some features are still stuck in the past.

The 10 V is interesting. Very bad chipset for the price, but you get a great camera setup, a decent screen, headphone jack and MicroSD slot, and most importantly incredible battery life. But then it's only selling with 128GB internal storage. Really?

Anonymous, 29 May 2023A proper midranger should be balanced in performance and en... moreSony midrangers are always with Snapdragon series 6. But the problem is that there wasn't enough of those on the market in te when 10 V was developed, nor the situation is much better in this moment, so they had to choose the old 695 instead. There was simply no other choocr from Qualcomm. Next year they will move to Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 or Gen 2 for sure. We can't expect a Sony midranger with Snapdragon series 7.

All in all, I agree with most of people here. 10 V is not worth the price for what is selling for.

Sony is crap in providing camera phones, never had any good camera phone in years, competition has 1 inch sensor with like high Res over 50megapixel sensor on all 3 cemeras, 1 Mark V simply has no chance to compete with those ridiculous prices.

Although the things you mentioned are great, but for me they don't justify the price when looking at the whole package

Already bought the 1 V. No issues taking an hour of 4K60p video non-stop. Heating is almost on par with the S23 Ultra, which is great to see.

I like the feel of the Sony 1, and it feels very premium. The camera is also superb. But that’s where the good ends. Sony seems to have nobody with a passion for phones nor good sense making design choices for their phones. It is like their phone was made by a marketing department. Outside of Japan, their flagship phone is comically small for watching video and for typing because of the 21:9 aspect ratio making the screen so skinny. Their software support is nothing special. Their naming scheme is nonsense and confusing. Their obsessively high resolution screen is a useless feature and doesnt look any better than iphones nor samsung flagships. And the price is absurd.

no 1 V is way tooe xpensive

and while 10 V seems interesting:
                                  1. it has horrible VFM / price doesn't reflect specs
                                  2. SoC is way too weak
                                  3. aspect ratio is horrible, I don't want remote control
                                  4. inferior software update policy (fixable through custom ROM?)
                                  5. mediocre camera performance (fixable through gcam?)

if they kept same width, changed to 18-19:9 aspect ratio and put there at least something like SD778 then I would consider buying one

"The company did remove the notification LED though, it was among the last to offer one"
                                    .
Yeah, it's sucks that Sony has removed this feature, truthfully 💔. But hey, as long as there's a substitute provided in Google Play that could be similar how notification LED works in four previous generation of Xperia (1) Mark series and the other main features: MicroSDXC slot, shutter button, and 3.5mm headphone jack is alive, 1 V is definitely on my watchlist ✨

I switch from Note 20 Ultra to Xperia 1 iv for microSD and 3.5mm jack, the trade off is high pricing, limited tile customisation, overheat camera in topical weather(take 1 photo for every 3-5min 7-9min for 1080p video), cannot charge the phone without GaN charger and not so great night time camera session even the ISO is much higher than Note 20 Ultra. Hope, that this new phone solve night camera and heat issue.
