Xiaomi outputs a lower bitrate, but has higher video quality?
Higher bitrate = better quality. There are obviously other factors such as resolution, codec, and framerate, but the bitrate is important.

Sony discontinued their sales in our country since they aren't competitive compared to other brands. Even Nokia phones with their Unisocs, Samsungs with their laggy UI and Huaweis without Google services have a bigger market here

I presently own an Alpha a7 iv, Sony TV and still the PS3. The last time I owned a Sony phone was the Xperia z3. I presently cannot see myself buying another Sony phone. If I need a larger screen for my camera, then I'll just buy a third party monitor. Present Sony smartphones are not worthy of the crazy pricing.

10.5 is pure robbery. You can get much more for the money elsewhere. I want to like Sonys phones but they give me absolutely zero to do so. I am a Sony fanboy when it comes to other electronics but havent had a Sony phone since maybe 2009.

Apparently, Sony keeps its mobile phone department running but without the intent to be really competitive from a price/performance perspective or to sell phones in large quantities.
The incremental changes from Xperia 1 mark 1 through 5 have been extremely conservative. It took them 5 generations to finally implement a night-mode - and its HDR- and night-mode processing is still not up to par with the current flagships.
Just two years of software updates are also a clear sign that Sony mobile division simply doesn't have the man power needed to offer sustained support.
And the high prices most likely reflect low volume production.
That being said, the Xperia 5 line has usually been a better value proposition, as it packed most of the tech from the Xperia 1 into a smaller body at a significantly lower price.

Cant even keep the frame rate stable on a $1000+ flagship, cheap brand 4ever smh.

This obsession over software updates is ridiculous. Most of the time updates just break shit and make a device performance worse.
Rather have zero updates but a device that performs as well as it did from day 1.

the only good things about the 1 is the 3.5mm an sd slot otherwise it's overpriced junk with a bunch of decade old cmos which is as bad as apple an google.

We all know Sony keeps its useless mobile division just for pride, I doubt they sell anything, no one should by Sony overpriced crap. It does not offer anything best for it's price, it's just all gimmicks.
