Laptop CPU sells for $280 as Intel's website says, I don't know how laptops aren't selling much further than phones at 3 times the BoM. Like here the 8 Gen 2 sells for $160.

So, 8g2 + celular hardware is almost $160.
Some ppl here for bizarre unknown reason believe making same phone with older SoC like 8+g1 would bring down costs by $200-300. 😂🤣🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Those sub-brands using 8+g1 are cheaper because they are inferior compared to phones using 8g1 from the same brands.
Slap 8+g1 inside s23u instead of 8g2, would not allow samsung to sell it for $600. But some here believe , blindly ..

Still worth my money more than any iPhone. Cool UI long support super camera great screen excellent battery life fast performance. Waiting for S24 series. Probably will buy S24 Plus version as the size is similar to my current midranger A52.

base S22 Ultra & S23 Ultra should have gotten 12GB of RAM then, no excuse!
S20U & S21U have 12GB base (16GB optional) while S22U & S23U downgrade to 8GB base (12GB optional)

For those who might come to the comments asking why Samsung doesn't sell it at 500$:
-This is just the raw cost of components. It doesn't include the costs of assembly, research and development, shipping, marketing, software development, certifications, packaging design, etc.
A phone's cost is way more than the components it's made out of. And then Samsung needs to profit on top of that. Is the phone too expensive for what it is? Yes. Should it be sold near the price of its BOM? No.
