Whilst the tech is amazing I have to agree with this article about lack of meaningful interaction with others. Every part of the showreel was just people alone and when they did interact with others it looked weird. This will be the start of the greatest isolation device ever.

I seen Apple literally swaying markets. If Apple does it, Android-based companies follows suit. Thats how its always been. If a iPhone can do something unique, everyone is gonna do it, next year.

But this Apple Vision Pro. Nobody is gonna even try recreating this. Not even Google, The underdog in concepts. They simply don't have the money or hell, they don't even know where to start. The OS or the schematics? It's like taking a swim but not even knowing how to hold your breath.

For 3500 dollars, the MR device is top notch stuff. M2 + a R1 chipset paired with x amount of RAM is crazy. High pixel count, postage stamp sized displays. But the things is, theres no market for this. The closest competitor(s) is the Meta Quest Pro or HoloLens.

well compare to its competition, the Vision Pro is or may be the best.

the Varjo XR-3 costs $6500 with $1500 annual subscription and needs a $2000 PC for it to work compare with the Vision Pro's built in M2 chip.

the Magic Leap 2 costs $3300

Microsoft Hololens 2 costs $3500 and based on the reviews online it svckks

lets just hope the price will go down at least 70% within this decade

But I do agree with you, people keep saying Meta one is better, IT IS NOT BECAUSE IT IS CHEAP FOR A REASON.

But most people refuse to understand THAT is the real issue.

PorkHotdog, 06 Jun 2023You think Apple doesn't do the same? This device liter... moreThat comment never said Apple doesn’t do it.

However Apple doesn’t care about the data of it, Facebook sees infinite money in it.

Doesn’t justify Apple their pricing, we need a different company make such device for less.

But it is a fact Meta their headset is trash alone for the fact it exists because of greed for data, not to make our lives easier.

Meanwhile while Apple their device is more privacy friendly, it is made for the elite, people with deep pockets that value their data.

But neither of the two is a solution, it creates separation between how much one can spend.

It’s like that company that announced a free TV that shows ads, follows and records you with cameras… you pay for it with data, and that should never be the case, because a lot of people just don’t have that kind of funds.

Anyhow none of the two is a solution, but truth is that the Meta one should avoided just for the fact Meta made it.

And Apple one… well it’s too expensive and early adopter, so two reasons to not get it.

Might be just my opinion but I think this is way more interesting than folding phones that are just heavy plastic-screened smartphones with repairability and durability issues. It‘s also more interesting than the AI shenanigans that Google and Microsoft like to talk about for so long. The target demographic for this AI stuff of Google and MS seems more like gullible investors instead of actual users.

Marques Brownlee mentioned the eye-tracking stuff works like magic. You can look at something and it's automatically highlighted. That's insane. We've come a long way from Microsoft HoloLens about 7 years ago and Google Glass from 10 years ago.

Perhaps people trashing this thing are myopic and don't have the foresight for its potential. They don't want to adapt to new technology and that's fine. Over 10 years ago, people hated big phones. Now it's the most common form factor. People don't understand things because some things are too ahead of their time.

Look at sales flops like the Palm webOS, BlackBerry 10, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, PS Vita, and LG G5 with wide-angle camera or any LG, HTC, Nokia, or BlackBerry mobile. They're only appreciated when they're truly gone. Google and Apple are still copying the gesture swipes from Palm and BB10.

I think the Apple Vision Pro is pretty cool. It probably would take by 2030 when it starts to become a little more mainstream. It needs 5 to 6 years and a few more revisions for it to be mildly successful. I think this might be the future way to use a desktop PC, watch TV while lying in bed or on a couch, and console gaming via cloud.

The iPod and iPhone did not really become great until that 5th generation (iPod video/iPhone 4S). If you don't like it, then don't like it. Be stuck buying smartphones forever and they're basically the same phone every year with very little improvements, if any.

No doubt the hardware is top-notch and the price matches that, but I just don't care about it - it's a toy for the rich, like those models in the presentation - you sit around your grand house with expensive furniture, and you comfortably indulge in media and apps in your bubble.

It's a perfect accessory for the rich: alone in their bubble, blissfully unaware what's going on in the outside world, avoiding anything that may upset or disturb their existence.
