Hot takes:
- HoloLens. . . 8 years after.
- Apple ski goggles, with AR
- Standalone headsets are not new.
- Watching TV/Movies in mixed reality sucks due to no blacks and rubbish contrast.
- The "Hot take: Apple Vision Pro" was written whilst wearing fanboy glasses

Dear Writer, are you really supprised it costs only 3.5k?!!! do u really think it will replace my PC, Tablet and phone? do you honestly think I can use it in public transportations (like my phone or tablet) or in a coffee bar (like my PC) you do realise it lasts only up to 2 hours? lucky you I am not allowed to use foul language.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2023Might be just my opinion but I think this is way more inter... moreIt may be 10x more interesting, I agree, but at the same time I don't like where the future is headed with VR/AR.
I.e., I don't want to see people at school/work engaged with their VR/AR headsets instead of socializing the old school way. It's just not right. It will only create even more awkward situations when socializing IRL.

If I saw this product being launched 10 years ago, my younger self will definitely love it.
But as of right now I HEAVILY disagree with this technology serving as a replacement.
Literally EVERYONE at my workplace has their earbuds in and their eyes glued to their phones when they are not working. Now imagine that but with a VR headset.
And I am the only one in the lunchroom who eats their food without feeling the need to watch or listen to something. (Young) People these days are so doomed, I swear to god.

Brilliant Overpriced. VR headsets are a dying breed. Except for occasional gaming, limited to the 4 corners of the house, it doesn't really serve any other purpose.
Plus this one has so many issues, which together would make thay experience strange, if it were used for anything else.

This stuff about movies and 3d movies having a lot of potential here is funny to me, because the author seems to have overlooked the fact that a VR headset's job is essentially to display stuff 3 dimensionally.
I mean it's like complimenting a Porsche for being able to drive at highway speeds.
This isn't a complaint, I'm all for compliments about VR headsets. The more the merrier. (Even if it's a terrible overpriced Apple VR headset)
I mean I guess people saying stuff like this was a given. People interested in this are generally people who have never bothered to even look into VR tech. So of course they're gonna compliment the basic requirements of a VR headset rather than any pros or cons when compared to other VR headsets.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2023What kinda logic is this? Obviously an older platform is go... moreThat is my logic: you can get Meta Quest 2 or Quest pro TODAY or just wait for Quest 3 for 499 dollars later this year or Quest pro 2 next year(same year as this Apple device) and have huge library of great games and some apps without having to wait.

I don't think people will use it to talk with others close by with it. But rather to those that are from different places and want a "realistic" experience like if that person was next to them.
Many do something similar in VRChat already.

I'm not a fan of Apple but this social implication thing has been regurgitated everywhere, cant you people think of anything else to say?
What Apple has done impressive but now I'm thinking that they might have overbuilt it, becoming overpriced and yet to be available to 2024.
I predict other companies will take the same high resolution micro oled displays and put them on lighter, cheaper glasses like the ones on Nreal/Xreal or Rokid. These glasses are AR all the time as it is see through and with light/visual leak to the sides. For more immersion, you simply turn all the lights off. It is also more portable and suitable outdoors.

Microsoft has been doing the exact same thing with HoloLens from seven years ago, and yet no one cares about it because "wInDoWzE". For me, I rather save a huge chunck of cash and get myself an Xreal or Rokid AR glasses. I don't want an independently-run AR/VR/MR headset that I won't be using all the time, especially when it can damage the eyes in long term.
