No. And it is not make phone more water resistant .. they would still be same IP68.
Holeless phones are impossible, they have speakers and microphones.

Of course they are. Not today, not tomorrow. But they simply are. No matter what crybabies think.
In the 2000s people said "phones can never replace computers". Today most internet access and communication is done via phones. PCs are specialized equipment, phone is the one thing everyone has in their hand. In the 2010s "phones can never replace cameras". Today a dedicated camera is a symbol of an enthusiast or a pro photographer (and even those use phones today).
The mantra of 2020s is "wire can never be replaced"... well, it can. Headphones already lost to wireless, charging is on as the next. And once chargers are made small and compact, nothing will stop charging port from disappearing.

Chaos X 1982, 18 Jun 2023In short prefer useless garbages. Why useless when you can make your everyday phone usage simpler? But if you adore messy cables ok for you.

USB is not for charging, it is for connectivity. Even though I prefer wireless charging, I will never buy a phone without a USB port. What a lopsided set of answers this poll has.

Clearly can be done and it will be more user-friendly by ending the shove-it-in century, not everyone will be happy right away tho like with a jack, but besides it increasing longevity of device and posing phone as futuristic by doing something more than changing the chip in new gen, it will spark a competition in wireless charging and lagless lossless alternatives for gaming and music.
There are other devices and new coming, not having a space even for usbc, tws are example. You surely want a consistent charging set up.
Besides all that, EU will love having less of waste, but I imagine, all the old cables will be wasted. rofl
But, I can imagine that some brands just won't take the lead despite having capabilities to do that, the same as it was with IR cameras, jack, removable batteries, physical buttons etc.
Just who can be the leader this time, I guess it certainly won't be the Sony, they are still on the jack and even added a display port... but they can certainly feed by being the black sheep, for niche consumers.

Solih, 18 Jun 2023Heavily need port for gaming, for plugging wired earpiece.
... moreNot trying to be rude, but why game on a phone? Unless is some mobile games to pass the time each and there.
I mean, after you game on a nice monitor (with PC) or big TV (with console), you can never go back to mobile gaming.
Yes, mobile gaming is a big part of gaming profit. Just because everybody has a phone capable of some sort of mobile gaming. But, sorry to break it to you, mobile gaming is not true gaming experience at all.
I would rather buy a cheaper phone and have money for a console, than buy an expensive phone, just to be able to game on it better.

"you already bought a phone without a headphone jack"
Peter, what are you talking about? I bought a phone WITH a headphone jack! Won't EVER buy one without! It's madness!

Yes, I will definitely see myself use a port-less smartphone.
My phone sits in the desk holder majority of time anyway. Is just a normal desk holder, but there are many other models that have wireless charging capabilities also.
Also, I am using Bluetooth devices since forever, so for me, using a port-less phone will be the next normal step.
Maybe I am in minority now and I will probably get a lot of hate on this site, because of what I said, but in time I am sure more people will adopt this way.

So I'm going to have to tape the charger to the back of the phone when I am sick and laying sideways on a couch or bed for an hour or buy a case only designed for the one smartphone (or multiple designs) and conveniently the oem charger that likely won't even come with the phone and still have less charging efficiency and spend more money?
