That is the ONLY easily identifiable trait of Pixel photography. Failed images because Google's incompetent photography team thinks underexposure is great.
Go ask ANY professional photographer what they think of an underexposed photo as a tradeoff for shorter exposure times.

Please stop spreading this "more megapixels is better" stupidity. You reviewers should know better than anyone else that high megapixel counts are worthless on tiny phone camera sensors.

True, sensor size is same, but I still can't see beautiful colours that I see in big pixel cameras, from quadbayers. Rest is all there- dynamic range is there, detail is there. Just the colours.

As long as we don't know the sensor size of this 3x camera module, it is virtually impossible to make any inferences about its prospective performance or image quality.
The biggest problem in cameraphone design is that there is usually one great camera module (usually the WA around 23-25mm) and all the other modules provide image quality that is much worse when compared to the main module.
I would much prefer a triple-camera setup where all three modules (UWA, WA and T) would each utilize equal, modestly large sensors (e.g. 1/1.7") with variable aperture and use ultra-fast gyroscope-data for electronic image stabilization.
Such a setup would provide consistent image quality across all three camera modules and thus a much larger phographically usable focal range when compared to a fantastic-ultra-extra-big primary sensor but with tiny WA & T modules.

Pro-i has bayer 20.1MP.
1v has 53MP that is 48MP effective (max image circle can cover).
There is no 50.
This is not why 48MP is locked. It is readout modes more effective at 12.
Same way their Alpha 7s3 with 48MP is locked at 12 as well.
You do not get 12bit raw out of phones at full res, but only at 12 in these quadbayer sensors. So, it is either 12MP@12bit or 48MP@10bit.
Also , at 48MP, readout is far slower.
The sensor is same, light intake would not change if reading pixels 1 by 1 or 4 by 4.
There is no change in how much liht it can grab.
48MP bayer > 48MP quadbayer full resolution.

38MP downscaled to 5MP from nokia 808 was good example.
Quality would never be same if that sensor was 5MP.
100MP full frame will outperform a 12MP 4/3, even with much smaller pixels.
Pixel size does not determinate light saturation levels.

For once, this is a great camera. I still remember the S20 Ultra's 40MP telephoto camera. It makes a lot of sense for digital hybrid zoom.

Again everything gets 12MP output
Wish it was 16MP or so. from 64MP source
Crop a 12 MP image a little and the result does not fit on a 4K screen or tv; not enough pixels.

But I am positive for a new 50mp tele sensor. It will bring a much needed update to that old sensor. And if they use a good one, I think there might be another benefit that it can give, and that being lossless zoom from 3x to 4x, using a center crop from the 50mp mode and some sort of software magic. Let's hope something like that happens.

Kingchin33, 09 Aug 2023Samsung Galaxy S23 primary 200MP camera sensor has tiny 0.6... moreExactly. Agreed with each word.
The proof is that in flagships, Sony are still going for binning 1.4 um pixels, 4 into 1 to 2.8um, in a 50MP setup.
If binning was such a cool thing, why wouldn't Sony go for 400MP? instead of being on 50MP? Because ultimately the colour qualty is achieved using big pixel sites.
They're trying to follow the trend while giving quality too. If only consumers go more aware.

Kingchin33, 09 Aug 2023Samsung Galaxy S23 primary 200MP camera sensor has tiny 0.6... more108mp was more of a clever marketing thing. And also, 200mp might be a marketing thing for most people, but for me, it is much better and more useful than the 108mp of the earlier S-series. I do enjoy photography, and the ability of the new 200mp to bin down to 50mp, with a still decent sized pixel pitch of 1.2um is something I enjoy. It really delivers very High Quality images with great Dynamic Range and Contrast and also not too much noise. So, I do think the 200mp is less of a marketing gimmick than 108mp to those who know.

Ginoza , 09 Aug 2023No doubt it'll probably be binned to 12mp, but this sh... moreSamsung Galaxy S23 primary 200MP camera sensor has tiny 0.6μm size pixels! It's only by pixel binning 16 times to 12.5MP with bigger 2.4μm size pixels that it can produce good images. That's why the default is the 16x binned 12.5MP.
The optional 200MP mode with tiny 0.6μm size pixels is way worse image quality than the default 16x binned 12.5MP with much larger 2.4μm size pixels.
Lots of comparisons by actual photographers who in detail show this. Removing the noise reduction won't make it magically better as you can't cheat physics, as the bigger the μm the better the image quality.
All smartphones pixel bin as default on the primary camera sensor as it produces much better quality images. Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Oppo Find X6 Pro, Vivo X90 Pro+ with there 50MP 1.6µm size pixels 4x binned to 12.5MP with 3.2µm size pixels.
200MP is simply clever marketing by Samsung with most consumers mistakenly thinking the higher the resolution the better.
