Just that no one bought them. Same with Samsung, their regular S22 last year sold poorly. People like bigger screens, even if it barely fits in their hands lol

Anton., 28 Aug 2023Another one to go! next is sonyI love seeing overconfident people like you saying things as if they represent the industry. I always been seeing this kind of thing going on for ages, and yet here we are with Sony will be launching the Xperia 5 v and Xperia Pro-I ii some time later.

It's hilarious, and apparently that marketing didn't work so well for Asus.

Too bad, their flip camera approach was kinda unique. Had they continued and developed this mechanism, they would've surely succeeded.

Considering that the ROG Phone has always been Asus money maker compared to Zenfone, I don't think this is unsurprising. Also, ZenUI is also on ROG Phone, so all is not lost.

Anonymous, 28 Aug 2023If Asus had bet in the marketing department instead of rele... moreThere is an incredible demand for android phones with a 5.5-6 inch screens and yet, there isn't one company capable of doing just that. The Zenfone was great and all but those people who want a top end snapdragon chipset also want a bigger screen phone.
Even a carl pei said small phones are for small limited number of people your incredible demand is maybe 01-0,5% of global smartphone population.
Since you cant cram much into tiny space small phones dying slowly.
I am glad to that becaue most people with average height of 180cm and 80 kilos size should have a regular 6.8 inch or bigger.
Small phones are really useless.
Just reading and typing on such small screen is difficult even Apple discontinued Mini series because they did not sell.
Garbage should be always removed becaue its useless and burden to others.

Just like LG and many else they doing a lot more products than just phones.
So the other branches of Sony can keep alive those parts which barelly holding on surface.

When they decided to make compact smartphones it was pretty much a dead sentence for them
Too bad people in the comment sections believe the vocal people represent what the majority wants
When in fact the majority is silent and are not found commenting on tech websites!!

This is a sad news for me. No other choices left for me but only their ROG phones. Buying newer ROG phone to replace my older ROG phone seems boring and does not give me excitement anymore.

Would be a shame if true, since the ROGs are just the same boring oversized slabs that everyone makes, with their only distinguishing feature being the presence of a headphone jack. The Zenfones are the only interesting phones Asus make.

rizki1, 28 Aug 2023really sad, back in the days Zenfone made a unique phone ma... moreAsus has quite a long history with Zenfone series
Their first Zenfone was actually called Zenfone 5 since it was a 5 inch device. The successor to that was called Zenfone 2 and that came in two sizes, 5 and 5.5 inches. Then there was the 3 and 4 and so on. Sometimes there were also few side variants of Zenfones called Laser, Selfie, Max, Go, AR, Zoom etc. I had Zenfone 5 (the first Zenfone) and then, Zenfone 2 Laser, and a Go 4.5, and then again some regular Zenfone. I almost bought the Zenfone Zoom which was maybe their first phone with a 13 megapixel periscope camera. After that, they started moving to mid-range with Zenfone 4, and flagship with the Zenfone 5 and after that all Zenfone were flagship phones

DarlingYext, 28 Aug 2023Bad decision, if true.Well reducing but keeping alive would be better than trying to go as long as money allows and then resulting in bankcrupt and company will be only in history books such as Siemens, or Blackberry.
But honestly i agree seeing many people loosing their jobs unable to feed their families, paying the bills etc is always a problem.
