Anonymous, 12 Sep 2023Ppl cant read. 🤦🏻‍♂️ HMD will be selling phones under ... moreSo what that you can read. That means nothing if you cant think with your head.
Why do HMD need to make a new brand ? Maybe cause there license to use Nokia branding is coming to end soon and they cant get new contract to use the branding ? So they need an alternative as HMD to still make phones when they cant use Nokia branding anymore.

Look at all these BBK brands as they make new brands cause old brands are doing well. Look at Xiaomi that started to make first Redmi series and then Poco cause there base brand was doing well.

Nokia branding dont seem to do well as they only have low end budget hardware phones in high price tags while there best hardware is SD695 like there flagship

Minu, 12 Sep 2023And the fact that Sony's approach does make sense, eve... moreYeah. However, I'm not a fan where the brand name is only there as a logo. FIH can very well make and sell the same phone with same quality at lesser price but without Sony logo. I mean.. People somehow just are happy paying for the logo, but wouldn't buy same good product when it's with xyz logo. So, hmd is likely to have a tough time.

And I'd wonder how the ex-Nokia staff that still works at hmd would feel. Working at Nokia to suddenly being an employee of Microsoft and converting to Microsoft Mobile. Then once again teaming up to form hmd to sell Nokia phones only to finally move the brand name to hmd again. They must be unlucky with Nokia.

Not sure how much popular HMD brand is in Finland or other neighboring European countries. But if they are indeed popular enough, they can sell some phones and try to grow locally in those markets.
In Asian and other markets, they can continue with Nokia brand.

Rofl @ Nokia fanboys blaming Chinese ODMs for poor business decisions made by Nokia

It's funny how easily they let go of the popularity the Nokia phones enjoyed in 2017-19 era. Nokia 6 in particular was a fire device they produced. Guess they mismanaged down the road and now paying for it.

But business logic says that it is being done to ph... moreYes they may likely put an end to Nokia branded phones, that will save them fees to use the title but ordinary buyers hardly know about hmd as a phone company, and then their devices being so boring won't help either. Idk what they gonna do in situation like that but either way, it's for best that they finally put Nokia name to rest

Since the company that imports all smartphones in our country is bankrupt basically, they first leaned onto Xiaomis that didn't sell well and now that trash so-called multi-conglomerate is importing those no-name Chinese phones.

They should keep the nokia brand for mid high end phones and use hmd for low mid end phones.

They certainly need to release more models. They tend to release low end phones and their upper tier isn't really upper tier and aren't updated on a regular annual basis, the X30 replacement should be here already.

Not using Nokai brand should make their devices cheaper due to no brand royalties.

Lets see how affordable it is, otherwise it will be just another flops they been doing from pas years.

I hope they innnovate more and bring a lot of fresh designs in the market like what the original Nokia did.

                                    Good. Stop tarnishing Nokia's name.

As for this new HMD branding. The only way it could succeed is if they actually start making competitive smartphones.
